Raipur, 24 April 2022. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has said that to strengthen the rural economy, we have adopted the “Chhattisgarh Model” of development. In this model, along with keeping the economy dynamic of the villages as well as the cities, emphasis has been laid on inclusive development of all sections. With the Suraji Gaon Yojana, while the economy of Chhattisgarh is getting stronger, the economic activities of the villages as well as the cities are accelerating.
Mr. Baghel was addressing a program organized by NDTV on the theme of Chhattisgarhia Sable Badhiya at a private hotel in Nava Raipur today. A glimpse of Chief Minister Shri Baghel’s love for nature and connection with the soil of Chhattisgarh was also seen in the Sable Badhi Chhattisgarhiya program. At the end of the program on the request of the anchor, he wrote lines from the songs ‘Maati hohi tor chola re sangi’ and ‘Chola mati ke he re akar ka bharosa… Chola mati ke he re’………. Singing too.
The Chief Minister said that to strengthen the economy of the village, we have implemented many innovative schemes like Godhan Nyay Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiless Krishi Mazdoor Yojana, while also focusing on the development of forests. Adequate arrangements have been made for the purchase of minor forest produce at the support price in the forest areas. We have increased the number of forest produce to be purchased on support price from 7 to 65. He said that Chhattisgarh has dozens of minor forest produce and rare herbs. We are encouraging their collection. Today, we have the largest collection of minor forest produce in the country. The Chief Minister said that value addition of minor forest produce has also been initiated. This is providing employment to the local people. In order to provide full benefits of tendu leaves to the forest dwellers, the collection rate of tendu leaves has been increased from Rs 2500 standard bag to Rs 4000 standard bag.
The Chief Minister said that our new industrial policy gives top priority to agriculture and forest produce based industries. We have given priority to small industries instead of big industries. We have worked to develop every village into productive units, where maximum emphasis is being laid on value addition of agriculture and forest products. To revive the animal husbandry, we have started the Godhan Nyay Yojana, in which we are making organic manure by buying cow dung at Rs 2 a kg. This work is being done by lakhs of women of self-help groups. Organic manure is being used in the fields, which has reduced the use of chemical fertilizers. The cost of agriculture has come down and the profit of the farmers has increased. The fertility of the land is also returning.
Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that due to the efficient policies of the Chhattisgarh government, during the corona transition period, the collection of 74 percent minor forest produce became possible. He said that the Suraji Gaon Yojana provided irrigation to the fields, ensured the fertility of the fields, ensured conservation and promotion of livestock, ensured the nutrition of the villagers and created lakhs of new employment opportunities. Godhan Nyay Yojana, which started by buying cow dung for Rs 2 a kg and making organic manure, is being operated as a mission today. This scheme is being operated in the same Gothans by making Gothans in village-villages. So far, approval has been given for the construction of more than 10 thousand 500 Gothans, out of which more than 8 thousand 500 Gothans are active.
