Raipur: Chhattisgarhi Olympics begins with Hareli festival: From Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club to state level, events will be held at six levels

Like last year, this year also Chhattisgarhia Olympics 2023-24 is being organized. On the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and under the direction of Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr. Umesh Patel, to encourage traditional sports of Chhattisgarh, to spread awareness about sports, The Chhattisgarhia Olympics 2023-24, started with the aim of providing a platform to the players and developing sports spirit, will start from July 17 on the day of Hareli festival. This sports competition, which lasts for about 2 months and 10 days, will be organized in 6 phases. From children to the elderly will be able to participate in this sports competition. In the competition, 16 types of traditional games have been included in team and single category. Rope jumping and wrestling have also been added in the single category in this year’s Olympics. The responsibility of organizing the Chhattisgarhia Olympics has been assigned to the Panchayat and Rural Development Department for rural areas and the Urban Administration and Development Department for urban areas. The competition will end on 27 September 2023. 

16 types of games have been included in two categories

    The traditional sports competition of Chhattisgarh will be organized in two categories, team and single. Games like Gilli Danda, Pittool, Sankhali, Langdi Run, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Tug of War and Banti (Kancha) have been included in the Chhattisgarhia Olympics in the team category. And the sports of single category include billas, fugdi, cart race, bhanvra, 100 meter race, long jump, rope jump and wrestling.

Competition will start from Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club 

    Chhattisgarhia Olympics will be organized first in rural and urban areas at Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club level competition from July 17 to July 22 with knockout method. And the second level is Zone, in which there will be one club consisting of 8 Rajiv Yuva Mitan Clubs. It will be organized from July 26 to July 31. The event will be held at the development block and urban cluster level from August 7 to August 21. The event at the district level will be held from 25 August to 04 September. The divisional level event will be held from September 10 to September 20 and in the last, state level sports competitions will be held. Which will be organized from 25 September to 27 September. 

Participants of every age group will be able to participate

    The age group in Chhattisgarhia Olympics is divided into three categories. In this, the first category will include participants till the age of 18 years, the second category till the age limit of 18-40 years and the third category will include participants above 40 years of age. Participants in both male and female categories will be able to participate in this competition.

Prizes will be given to the winners 

   Certificates and prize money will be given to the winning participants at the development block and urban cluster level to the winning participants at the state level in the Chhattisgarh Olympics. 1000 rupees will be given to the winning players of development block and urban cluster level, Rs. 750 for second place and Rs. 500 for third place and certificates. Similarly, at the district level, the first winning participants will be given certificates with an amount of Rs 2000, Rs 1500 for second and Rs 1000 for coming third. At the division level, the winning contestants will be given Rs 3000 for coming first, Rs 2500 for second and Rs 2000 and certificates for third place players. 5000 rupees to the participants who come first in the final event of the Olympics at the state level, 

First aid facility will be available

        Arrangement of first aid kit at each event level and availability of emergency medical facility at the local level as much as possible will be done by the organizing committee. The organizing committee will also be responsible for ensuring ambulance arrangements at the venue. According to the instructions issued by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, only women referees and judges will be appointed for women players. Apart from this, it has been made mandatory by the department to take valid identity certificates from the players at all levels of the event.
