Raipur: Chhattisgarh will have three highways under Bharatmala Yojana: Permission given on request of Chief Minister

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel meets Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari

There will be highway construction works costing about 20 thousand crores in the state

Transport facility will be increased in Naxalite affected and industrial areas of the state

 

Raipur, 05 February 2021. The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, met the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi today. During this, he informed about the needs and problems of the state and urged to increase road transport facilities for the development of Naxal-affected and industrial areas. On the request of the Chief Minister, Union Minister Shri Gadkari immediately directed the officials for necessary action. At the same time, permission was also granted to include three highways under the Bharatmala Yojana.

During the meeting, Mr. Baghel urged to allow the proposed works for widening, upgradation, reconstruction of national highways and theoretical national highways in Chhattisgarh. Mr. Baghel has also demanded the inclusion of three highways under the Bharat Mala Scheme.

Taking immediate action on this, the Union Minister gave consent to the road construction works of about 20 thousand crores in the state, Raigad-Dharamjigarh Road, Ambikapur-Bhaisamuda-Wadrafnagar-Dhangaon-Bamni-Renukut-Banaras Road and Pandaria-Bajag-Gadasarai Road Granted permission for inclusion in Bharatmala Yojana. Apart from this, the Union Minister has also accepted the request to start construction work of Raipur-Durg bypass, Raipur-Visakhapatnam road and Bilaspur-Uraga road in the past.

During the meeting, Mr. Baghel approved construction work from Mungeli to Pondi Marg and Madangmuda to Devbhog Odisha border under Annual Plan 2020-21, Extremely poor condition of National Highway Champa-Korba-Katghora Road and ROB construction at existing level crossings on National Highways. Also attracted the attention of the Union Minister. At the same time, the Chief Minister said that at the slow pace of widening and upgrading of Raipur to Dhamtari road, the concerned people should be directed to increase the speed of work.

Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari has assured to take positive initiatives on various other proposals related to development of highways at the earliest. Secretary of the Chief Minister and Secretary of Public Works Department, Mr. Siddharth Komal Pardeshi were also present on the occasion.
