Raipur : Chhattisgarh tightens the noose on Corona with better testing, tracing, vaccination and treatment system

Raipur, 15 May 2021. Chhattisgarh has managed to crack the COVID crisis with better testing, tracing, vaccination and treatment. Every day 2197 tests per 10 lakh population are being done in the state, whereas at national-level, this average is only 1245.

 

As a result of Chief Minister’s continuous monitoring and guidance, TruNat facility is available in 39 labs of Chhattisgarh and 15 labs in the state have RTPCR test facility. Moreover, six new government labs are being prepared for RTPCR test in Balodabazar, Durg, Dantewada, Janjgir-Champa, Jashpur and Korba. The antigen test is available up to primary health center-level in the state, while testing capacity of 2 to 4 labs is also being increased by providing additional machines in each district.

 

Collective and consistent efforts in the state has led to a sharp decline in the COVID infection rate. The infection rate which was close to 30 percent in April has now come down to 12 percent at present. Last year, an average of 4 to 4 contacts per COVID infected persons were being traced, whereas now 7 contacts per COVID patient are being traced and treated. This has greatly contributed to the prevention of COVID infection.

 

At present, 1063 localities in the state have been declared as ‘containment areas’ where door-to-door testing is being done. There are 6 Medical Colleges and 37 Dedicated Covid Hospitals including AIIMS Raipur and a total of 154 Covid Care Centers in the state, along with Dedicated Covid Hospitals in each district. Nearly 5294 beds in Government Dedicated COVID Hospitals and 16405 beds in the COVID Care Center have been facilitated. As many as 9 thousand 596 beds have been made available in the private COVID hospitals. In addition, a total of 1151 ventilators have been made available in 526 government and 625 private hospitals.

 

To increase the number of oxygen beds in the state, 18 new oxygen generation plants have already been set up and development of six more plants is under process. Three of these plants will be established in the next one week. A special teleconsultation hub has been set up at Raipur Medical College, through which all the government dedicated COVID Hospitals are being provided daily online consultation by the subject experts of the college from May 2020 onwards. Tele rounds are also taken if required.

 

Virtual OPD facility in Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital

 

At present, for the convenience of general patients, virtual OPD facility has been started in Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital Raipur. This online OPD facility is available from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm every day, during which people can take medical advice from the experts of the Department of Medicine, Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Department of Psychiatry. In future, if the number of patients increases, physicians of other departments will also be made available. People can access this Virtual OPD via link. In Chhattisgarh, over 7.72 lakh people have recovered from COVID-19 infection so far, out of which 1.38 lakh have been discharged from the hospitals and 6.34 lakh patients have completed home isolation period. Control rooms have also been set up in each district to monitor the home isolated patients.

 

Nearly 3.99 lakh people of age group 18-44 years vaccinated

 

According to the video conference organized by Government of India on May 11, Chhattisgarh ranks sixth in the entire country for providing the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to the people of age group 45 and above. In the entire country, only Ladakh, Sikkim, Tripura, Lakshadweep and Himachal Pradesh are ahead of Chhattisgarh. If we talk about the coverage of the first dose of health care workers, Chhattisgarh ranks third in the country with (98.4 percent).

 

Maximum number of people i.e. 3.26 lakh persons were vaccinated in the state on 2 April 2021 and 2.92 lakh persons were vaccinated on 3 April. Till May 14, a total of 64.20 lakh beneficiaries have been given vaccine dosages in the state. On 14 May 2021, 40,266 persons were vaccinated in 2,086 sessions. Till May 14, a total of 3,99,262 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 years were vaccinated. After vaccination on 14 May 2021, 2,72,050 doses are remaining from the central government channel and 96,950 remaining from the state government channel.

 

Rs 3.44 crore recovered as fine from people for not wearing masks in public place

 

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, State Government has made a provision to fine Rs 500 to people for not wearing masks in public places. From 25 February 2021 to 10 May 2021, Rs 3 crore 44 lakh was recovered from 2.22 lakh people of all districts.
