Raipur, 13 May 2021. COVID situation in Chhattisgarh is constantly improving since May 1, 2021. While the number of new cases per day has decreased noticeably, the COVID positivity rate is also declining. In last 12 days , the positivity rate has declined from 26.1% to 14%.
Availability of all kinds of hospital beds as well as oxygen supply in the state has also improved considerably. Meanwhile, both COVID testing and vaccination drive has been paced up to cover maximum number of people possible. On May 12, nearly 71 thousand 138 samples were tested in a day for COVID.
On May 1, nearly 15 thousand 905 new cases were registered in Chhattisgarh, whereas on May 12, only 10 thousand 150 new cases were recorded. Similarly on May 12, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 was 229, whereas on May 12, it was recorded to be 153. Around 12 days back, hardly any vacant beds were available in the state. But as on May 12, as many as 318 ventilator beds, 852 ICU beds, 750 HDU beds, 6364 oxygen beds and 11883 other beds were available. Right from the beginning, Chhattisgarh has never had any shortage of oxygen supply and now with continuous expansion of facilities and infrastructure, the number of samples tested per day has also increased significantly. More and more number of COVID suspected people are being tested on a daily basis. On May 12, Chhattisgarh has set a new record of testing 71 thousand 138 people in one day.
Meanwhile, to conduct the vaccination drive in a strategic and systematic manner, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has launched CGTeeka web portal in the state. People of BPL, antyoday and destitute categories, who do not have mobile phone or internet connectivity, can also get their registration done on this portal. 24×7 Rapid Antigen Test Facility has been started in all 13 municipal corporations of the state from today May 13 onwards. New Virology lab has been started in Baikunthpur to expand the RTPCR test facility. Including this newly-inaugurated lab, Chhattisgarh now has a total of 10 government labs with RTPCR test facility. This would not only help in testing maximum number of people in a day but will also speed up the process of delivering test reports.
