Raipur : Chhattisgarh procures 103.63 lakh metric tonnes of paddy Over Rs 22,468 crore paid to the farmers

The extensive campaign for paddy procurement is underway in Chhattisgarh since November 1, 2023, under the Kharif marketing year 2023-24. Adhering to the ‘Modi ki Guarantee,’ the government is purchasing paddy at the rate of 21 quintals per acre. As of now, a notable 103.63 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured from farmers, with payment to farmers exceeding Rs 22,468 crore.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, farmers who had previously sold paddy will also benefit from the current initiative. Those who have already sold a predetermined quantity of paddy from November 1 last year up to the present will have the opportunity to sell the remaining quantity at the procurement center until January 31.

For the Kharif marketing year 2022-23, farmers in the state will be able to sell 21 quintals of paddy at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal, resulting in an income of Rs 65,100 per acre. This represents an additional profit of Rs 25,500 compared to the previous year.

According to Markfed General Manager, nearly 103 lakh 63 thousand 489 metric tonnes of paddy had been purchased from 19 lakh 87 thousand 331 farmers in the state so far. Over Rs 22,468 crore has been disbursed to farmers through the bank linking system in lieu of paddy purchase. Alongside paddy procurement, there is continuous lifting of paddy for custom milling. Currently, DO has been issued for the lifting of 86 lakh 62 thousand 842 metric tonnes of paddy, out of which millers have already lifted 63 lakh 15 thousand 722 metric tonnes. The State Government has set a target of procuring an estimated 130 lakh metric tonnes of paddy this year.
