Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has said that Chhattisgarh Olympics will be organized every year in the month of September-October to promote the traditional sports of Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister was addressing the inauguration ceremony of state level competitions of Chhattisgarh Olympics at Balveer Singh Juneja Stadium in capital Raipur today. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced award money to the participants who came first, second and third in cluster, block, district, divisional and state level competitions of Chhattisgarh Olympics. The Chief Minister inaugurated the state level Kabaddi game competition of Chhattisgarh Olympics by tossing. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr. Umesh Patel, Food Minister Mr. Amarjit Bhagat, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Housing Board Mr. Kuldeep Juneja, Mayor of Municipal Corporation Raipur Mr. Ejaz Dhebar, in the inauguration ceremony.
Addressing the divisional-level winning players present in the stadium, the Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarhi Olympics have been started to preserve and advance our sports forms rooted in the Chhattisgarhi tradition. Unprecedented enthusiasm was seen among the people in the entire state regarding the Chhattisgarh Olympics. From children to elders, women and youth participated in these games with full enthusiasm. A good atmosphere was created for sports in every village. Women also took an active part in it. The women who had gone to their in-laws house after marriage, He also had a large number of participation in these games. The Chief Minister said that a 40-year-old woman who had brought marigolds during the meet-meet program organized at Mulmula village in Janjgir-Champa district told that she has been the winner of this competition. The woman told with great enthusiasm that she did not get a chance to play after coming to her in-laws house. You started the Chhattisgarh Olympics, we got a chance to play through it. This competition should be organized every year. The Chief Minister said that the Chhattisgarh Olympics started on 06 October. In Chhattisgarhi Olympics, the youngest 06-year-old girl is playing in fugdi and 65-year-old elders are playing in the state level competition.
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr. Umesh Patel while giving a welcome speech said that on the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel the popular sports in our rural areas were disappearing. Chhattisgarhi Olympics were started to encourage and promote them. Work is being done to promote Chhattisgarhi culture under the leadership of the Chief Minister. Teej-festivals are being organized enthusiastically in the entire state with the announcement of holiday.
Participation of 25 lakh people in rural areas and 1.30 lakh people in cities
Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Smt. Renu Ji Pillay said that about 1900 participants from all the districts of the state are participating in this state level event. These competitions will run till 10 January 2023. He told that more than 25 lakh people from rural areas and more than one lakh 30 thousand people from urban areas participated in the Chhattisgarh Olympics. He informed that Fugdi, Billas, Bhanwara, Baati and Kabaddi at Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium, Sankhali, Tug of War, Langdi, Pitthul, Gendi race at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Outdoor Stadium, Kho-Kho and Gilli Danda at Madhav Rao Sapre Higher Secondary School and Competitions for long jump and 100 meters running games will be held at Swami Vivekananda Stadium Kota.

Domestic women, children and elders are also actively participating in this Olympics. 14 sports have been included in the Chhattisgarhi Olympics.
