Raipur: Chhattisgarh leads in recognition of forest rights in the country: distribution of more than 4 lakh 41 thousand individual and more than 46 thousand community forest rights papers in the state

     Raipur, 06 October 2020. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh is leading the issue of recognition of individual and community forest rights throughout the country. Till now, more than 4 lakh 41 thousand individual and more than 46 thousand community forest rights have been supplied to Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dwellers. In this way, over 51 lakh 06 thousand acres of individual and community forest rights, individual and community forest rights have been distributed to local communities. In the state, on an average 1 hectare of forest land has been recognized per capita forest rights holder, which is comparatively better in the country.   

    On the occasion of 151 birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, organized by Chief Minister  Bhupesh Baghel on October 2 at his residence office, about 13 hundred community forest resource conservation rights papers of more than 5 lakh hectare were distributed through video conferencing. Community forest resource rights in the state have been conferred on Gram Sabhas.

    The area of ​​more than 4 lakh 41 thousand individual forest rights papers distributed in the state of Chhattisgarh is more than 9 lakh 41 thousand 800 acres. Similarly, the area of ​​more than 46 thousand community forest rights papers is more than 41 lakh 64 thousand 700 acres.

    It is noteworthy that for the first time in the state, since January 2019, under the 23 cases of community forest resource rights, gram sabhas have been given recognition of management rights on 26 thousand hectares of forest land. Individual forest rights are not only handed over to the recognized beneficiaries only forest rights letters, but irrigation facilities, manure-seeds, agricultural implements are also being provided to their recognized forest lands by convergence of government schemes.

    So far, one lakh 49 thousand 762 beneficiaries in the state have benefited from land leveling and fencing. Their land area is more than 58 thousand hectares. Leveling and fencing work was done on the land of the beneficiary who got the forest rights recognition. Food-seeds and agricultural implements have also been provided to them.

    Irrigation facility has been provided on more than 11 thousand hectare land to more than 41 thousand beneficiaries in the state. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, more than 95 thousand villagers have received housing and more than 2 lakh beneficiaries have been provided Kisan Samman Nidhi. Irrigation facility has been provided which will increase the crop production capacity of their land and increase the income with stability in livelihood. Fruit and forest produce plants are being planted on the rams of the fields of forest rights holders.

    The provisions of the Forest Rights Act are meant to give the Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dwellers families a life of their rights, self-reliance and respect. Under the community forest rights, the right of disposal, ownership of small forest produce, the right to use on fish and water bodies products, grazing, especially vulnerable tribes and habitat of pre-agricultural communities. Under this, in the past till September, 14 thousand 970 community forest rights papers have been provided in 9 lakh 74 thousand 635 hectare forest area. Apart from this, the right of conservation, revival and management of community forest resources has also been given under Community Forest Rights. A management plan will be prepared and implemented under the guidance of the Forest Department for the conservation, development and management of forests, wildlife and biodiversity by the Gram Sabha in the forest area. Due to this conservation of forests, Availability of resources will be ensured for the development and livelihood of the villagers. Similarly, 97 community forest resource rights papers have been provided in 81 thousand 358 hectare forest area till September.

    Under the Forest Rights Act 2006 public facilities such as schools, dispensaries, anganwadis, fair price shops, electric and telecom lines, tanks and small reservoirs, drinking water supply and water pipelines, water or rainwater harvesting structures, minor irrigation canals, unconventional 1158 hectares of forest land has been provided to various departments for 2309 work for 13 purposes from energy sources, skill upgradation or vocational training centers, roads and community centers.

    In order to make the forest dwellers self-reliant by providing resources of extra income along with a life of respect, 1110 hectares of irrigated fruits, small forest produce and medicinal plantations, vegetable production, etc. were implemented under MNREGA scheme on 1150 hectares of land. Are going
