On the occasion of Hareli festival organized with pomp at the Chief Minister’s residence office, the Chief Minister worshiped agricultural machines and wished for the prosperity of the state. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, in his address on the occasion, said that in view of the multi-dimensional results of Godhan Nyay Yojana, many states of the country have started adopting it. Under this scheme, rich or poor, all are selling cow dung in cowsheds for two rupees a kg. He said that in Chhattisgarh, agriculture should be prosperous, farmers should be happy, it is our effort. The use of organic fertilizers and organic pesticides in farming will reduce the cost of farming. The quality of food will be better, which will improve the health of the people.
It is worth noting that the Chhattisgarh government is the only government in the country, which is buying cow dung from the cattle rearing villagers of its state for the last two years. Today, on July 28, from the Hareli festival, the government procurement of cow urine has officially started in Chhattisgarh. This initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel is really to protect and promote animal husbandry in the state as well as to increase the income of animal husbandry and to promote organic farming. The purchase of cow dung in the state for the last two years and the manufacture of organic manure from it has given a boost to organic farming in the state. The purpose of purchase of cow urine is to manufacture organic insecticides, Jeevamrut, growth promoters from it in Gauthans, so that organic pesticides can be made easily available to the farmers of the state at low cost.
It is worth mentioning here that Godhan Nyay Yojana was started in Chhattisgarh 2 years ago from today on 20th July 2020 on the day of Hareli festival. Under this, cow dung is being purchased at the rate of Rs 2 per kg from the cattle rearing villagers. The unmatched success of the Godhan Nyay scheme for the purchase of cow dung in the country and the world has become the basis for the purchase of cow urine. In view of the encouraging results of large scale production of organic manure through dung procurement and its use, now by purchasing cow urine, pest control products, Jeevamrut, growth promoters will be made from it. The motive behind this is also to reduce the toxicity of food production as well as reduce the cost of farming.
Indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides in agriculture is destroying the nutritional value of food items. The fertility of the land is decreasing. The amount of food poisoning is increasing, due to which the health of public life is being adversely affected. Now by purchasing cow urine in Gauthans, organic pesticides will be prepared from it through women’s groups, which will be made available to the farmers at a subsidized rate. The cost of these organic pesticides will be much less than the cost of expensive chemical insecticide pesticides available in the market. Agricultural scientists say that cow urine is a better and cheaper alternative to insecticide, chemical insecticide. Its disease resistance is many times higher than chemical insecticides. Its spraying in the fields helps in the control of all types of pests. leaf eaters, The use of cow urine insecticide is more effective against fruit piercing and stem borer insects. Its use is also better for agriculture – environment and health.
It is worth mentioning that on the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, under the Garva component of Suraji Gaon Yojana, Gauthan is built and operated in 8408 villages of the state, where free provision of fodder and water is available for the care of animals. In these Gauthans, cow dung is being procured for the last two years under the Godhan Nyay Yojana. Due to which women groups are preparing organic fertilizers and other products. Over 76 lakh quintals of cow dung has been procured in the state in the last two years, in lieu of which an amount of more than Rs 153 crore has been paid to rural cattle farmers. Women’s groups have so far produced more than 22 lakh quintals of Vermi Compost, Super Compost, Super Compost Plus from the purchase dung and made it available to the farmers of the state for use in agriculture. Along with the manufacture of organic manure from cow dung in Gauthans, women are also conducting other oriented activities, From which he has earned an additional income of Rs 74 crores in the last two years. With the preparation of organic fertilizers along with organic pesticides by women’s groups in Gauthans, organic farming will get a further boost in the state.
