Raipur: Chhattisgarh government’s big exercise to chalk out health infrastructure and treatment facilities for better covid management

Raipur, 28 June 2021.  Chief Minister  Bhupesh Baghel has started an effective initiative to further strengthen health facilities from the capital Raipur to the rural areas keeping in view the circumstances arising in the state of Chhattisgarh during the first and second wave of Corona. The Government of Chhattisgarh has started gearing up the infrastructure and treatment facilities of health institutions for better covid management.  Baghel has said that no stone will be left unturned in strengthening the health infrastructure in the state. He has sought an action plan from all the district collectors to make the government hospitals fully equipped from the development blocks to the district headquarters. For this, he has taken initiative to take government and private sector together. Every effort is being made by the state government for vaccine availability and vaccine awareness. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has also written a letter to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today for providing one crore vaccines in the month of July.

 

It is worth mentioning that in the last two and a half years, many works have been done by the state government for the improvement of health services in the rural areas of the state, but still the availability of specialist doctors in small district headquarters and block headquarters remains a challenge. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has given instructions for expansion and strengthening of health infrastructure from capital to rural areas to deal with the changing nature of corona pandemic and to provide best health services to the people of the state.

 

 

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had directed the Chief Secretary to initiate action to strengthen medical facilities in all medical colleges, district hospitals, community health centers and primary health centers in the state on May 15, in view of the fear of third wave of corona. . The Chief Minister had also directed to make special arrangements for the medical treatment of children due to the possibility of children being affected by the third wave of corona. He directed the Chief Secretary to make adequate arrangements for additional human resources, oxygen beds and cylinders, concentrators, ICUs, ventilators, CT scans, blood tests, ambulances, mobile medical units, etc. in the hospitals.

 

Similarly, on 15th June, Mr. Baghel directed all the collectors to ensure round-the-clock treatment facilities including free medicines, necessary infrastructure, appointment of specialist doctors, to improve health facilities in district and block level hospitals and community health centers for 15 days. Instructions were given to prepare an action plan.

 

The state government is also preparing to use the capabilities of the private sector to develop health facilities of international standard in Chhattisgarh. On June 22, the Chief Minister has directed the Chief Secretary to reserve 25 acres of land in Nava Raipur so that a reputed hospital can be established there. In this hospital, treatment can be done under the schemes of the state government. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel intends that in future the hospital to be established in Nava Raipur should be 1500 bedded super specialty hospital, which should have all facilities including multi organ transplant. With the establishment of this hospital, the people of Chhattisgarh will not need to go out of the state for future treatment.

 

In the next episode, on June 26, the Chief Minister has directed to take the cooperation of the private sector to provide health facilities and strength in rural areas. The Chief Minister has said that in order to make the services of specialist doctors available in rural areas, along with the expansion of health services in all government hospitals, the cooperation of the private sector will also be taken in the construction of health infrastructure. Grants will also be given by the state government to the private sectors especially for the construction of hospitals in rural areas. This grant will be under the grant being given by the state government to the service sector industries. The Chief Minister has directed the Industries Department to prepare an action plan for this in the next 10 days.

 

Oxygen plants installed in district hospitals of 16 districts in five months

 

Nearly four times increase in oxygen supply

 

The supply of oxygen to the needy patients suffering from other diseases including Kovid-19 infected patients has increased almost four times in the last five months. Oxygen plants have been set up in 16 district hospitals of the state. Oxygen plants have now been installed in 22 district hospitals, while the work of setting them up in remaining district hospitals is in progress.

 

As of December 2020, the number of oxygen concentrators in all 28 district hospitals of the state was 1061, which has increased to 3917 as of today. Similarly, the number of small oxygen cylinders has increased from 2499 to 5362, the number of jumbo Z cylinders has increased from 2704 to 9382, the number of oxygen plants has increased from 6 to 22, the number of ventilators has increased from 280 to 723 and the number of paramonitors has increased from 624 to 1142. Arrangement of liquid oxygen tanks has also been ensured in three districts.
