Raipur, February 11, 2022. In a bid to boost confidence and promote intellectual development among children, the School Education Department of Chhattisgarh Government has launched two new programmes including ‘Oro Scholar’ for school children from class I to XII and ‘Project Inclusion’ for children with special needs. School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam virtually launched these programmes at his residence office today.
Under the Oro Scholar Program, children will be encouraged to participate in quiz competitions and get scholarships worth thousands of rupees. Similarly, Project Inclusion Program is to identify children with special needs and bring them on par with normal children. Both these programmes will be conducted in collaboration Sri Aurobindo Society.
School Education Minister Dr. Tekam has appealed to the officials and teachers of the School Education Department to prepare more and more children of their respective areas and encourage them to participate in the quiz competition. Similarly, under the Project Inclusion Program, the departmental officers should identify children with special educational needs and take necessary measures to address their shortcomings, bringing them to the mainstream of education.
The minister told that on January 26, 36-36 teachers were felicitated for their outstanding work during corona pandemic period. Now teachers doing good work in the field of basic literacy and statistical skills improvement will also be honored. He said that the program will be beneficial for improving the performance of children who are lagging behind in studies and boosting their confidence.
School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam said on this occasion that both these programmes are important for school children. Under the Oro Scholar program, children will be prepared to work hard in studies and participate in some competitions and earn thousands of rupees scholarships to bear the cost of their studies. Similarly, the other program Project Inclusion assists teachers in identifying children with special needs and addressing their problems. He said that both these programs are very useful for the school education department and students across Chhattisgarh will definitely get benefit from their implementation.
Minister Dr. Tekam informed that the Oro Scholar program is for the students from class I to XII. Children can participate in as many as 20 quizzes by registering themselves in the Oro Scholar app. They will get Rs 50 for scoring 80 per cent marks in each quiz. In a month, the child will get about Rs one thousand for scoring 80 per cent marks in all of the 20 quizzes. Questions will be asked from the syllabus they are currently studying in school. Thus, the children will be encouraged to study their syllabus carefully so that they can answer the questions asked in the quiz and can score more than 80 per cent in the quiz. He added that with the money received from the quiz, children would not only be able to bear the cost of further studies on their own, but would also be able to provide financial support to their families.
Briefing about the ‘Project Inclusion’ programme, Minister Dr. Tekam said that we all know that there are children around us who are suffering from one or the other disease and children with physical disabilities. However, identifying children with mental illness like learning disabilities and disorders is difficult. For such children we assume that they cannot learn anything, however in reality the child is suffering from some mental disorder. Under this program, Sri Aurobindo Society will make teachers aware to identify such children and how to improve their weak areas.
On this occasion Dr. Simmi Mahajan of Sri Aurobindo Society, SBI Foundation Chief Executive Officer Mr. Lalit Mohan, SBI Foundation MD Ms. Manjula Kalyan Sundaram, Oro Scholar Operation Head Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Additional Director SCERT Dr. Yogesh Shivhare, and Mr. M Sudhish of Samagra Shiksha were present on the occasion. District, block, and cluster level department officials and teachers also participated in this program through video conferencing.
