Chhattisgarh ranks first in the country for the last 3 years in male sterilization during the fortnight
Dr. Sanjay Naval for the most sterilization and Mitanin Mrs. Kevara Verma, who inspired many couples for sterilization, also got the award.

Chhattisgarh has been awarded three awards by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for its excellent work in Male Sterilization Fortnight. During the male sterilization fortnight, Chhattisgarh ranks first in the country in sterilization between the last three years 2019 to 2021. Union Minister of State for Health Dr. Bharti Praveen Pawar rewarded the state for this achievement in a program organized in New Delhi today. Deputy Director of Family Planning Program Dr. T.K. Tonder and Consultant Dr. Roshan Gupta received this award on behalf of Chhattisgarh.
The state has received awards in two more categories for male sterilization. Dr. Sanjay Naval has got the second prize at the national level for most vasectomy. Mitanin of Tilda, Raipur district, Mrs. Kevara Verma has been awarded in the category of Couple Motivation (motivation) for male sterilization. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel and Health Minister Shri T.S. Singhdeo has congratulated the Health Department and the team of National Health Mission on this achievement of the state.
Deputy Director of Family Planning Program Dr. T.K. Tondar informed that during the last three years, 3212 male sterilizations have been done in the state during the male sterilization fortnight. During the male sterilization fortnight, 1695 men have undergone sterilization in the year 2019-20, 168 in the year 2020-21 and 1349 in the year 2021-22. He said that during the sterilization fortnight from the village level to the district level, by running a special campaign, the misconceptions and myths spread among the people regarding male sterilization are dispelled. Men are motivated for sterilization by organizing “Mor Mitan Mor Sangwari” Choupal at village level.
