Rapid preventive action is being taken to maintain law and order

Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale has issued necessary guidelines to the District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police of all the districts regarding taking necessary preventive action to maintain law and order in the Assembly Elections 2023. In compliance with the above instructions, illegal transportation and collection of money and goods is being closely monitored through various enforcement agencies in the state. Under Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023, the action of intensive investigation of surveillance teams is going on continuously in the state. From the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct in the state till October 21, illegal money and items worth Rs 14 crore 33 lakh 25 thousand have been seized, which includes cash amount of Rs 4 crore 56 lakh 78 thousand.
According to the information received from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, during the monitoring by the enforcement agencies till October 21, 20 thousand 261 liters of illicit liquor has been seized, which is worth Rs 61 lakh 37 thousand 984. Besides, 2638 kg of other intoxicants worth approximately Rs 2 crore 7 lakh 83 thousand 537 have also been seized. During the intensive investigation operation, more than 132 kg of precious jewelery and gems worth Rs 2 crore 29 lakh 26 thousand were also seized during the search. Apart from this, other materials worth Rs 4 crore 77 lakh 98 thousand 361 have also been seized.
In compliance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission, out of 12495 licensed weapons, 10524 weapons have been deposited, 3 have been confiscated and 12 have been cancelled. Under the Arms Act, 1354 cases have been made and 1411 weapons have been seized under it. 54 people have been displaced. Under MV Act, action worth Rs 19 crore 35 lakh 72 thousand 457 has been taken in 3 lakh 89 thousand 94 cases. Under restrictive action, action has been taken against 1 lakh 91 thousand 57 persons in 1 lakh 43 thousand 736 cases and 1 lakh 10 thousand 735 bound overs have been done.
