Raipur 10 November 2023
Under Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023, rapid action is being taken on the complaints received on the C-Vigil App (Citizen Vigil App) of the Election Commission of India. According to the information received from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, out of the total 3891 complaints received in the state so far through C Vigil, 3218 complaints have been resolved and action is being taken on the remaining complaints.
It is noteworthy that complaints of violation of code of conduct are being received from common citizens through C-Vigil. To ensure quick and effective action on complaints received on C-Vigil, a separate control room has been set up in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer. Chief Electoral Officer Shri Reena Babasaheb Kangale himself is monitoring the action taken on the complaints received daily.
Every possible effort is being made to ensure adherence to the Model Code of Conduct in the state during the Assembly Elections-2023. The C-VIGIL application created by the Election Commission of India has been further strengthened to increase citizen participation and speedy redressal of complaints in cases of violation of code of conduct. Now common citizens will be able to complain about code of conduct violation cases through live photographs and videos as well as audio clips. If any citizen witnesses any incident of code of conduct violation in the state, he can make a complaint through the application by taking a photo or making a 2-minute video or audio clipping of the incident using the C-Vigil application. Complaint can be made anonymously or by registering on the app. On filing complaint as a registered user, the user will be informed about the same after resolution of the complaint. This application is available for common citizens on both Android/iOS. In normal cases, the action on complaints will be completed within 100 minutes and the complainant will be informed about it.
Using C-VIGIL app, citizens can immediately report illegal promotional activities as soon as they are detected, within minutes and without visiting the Returning Officer’s office. CVigil is a simple app that is user friendly and easy to use. This application connects the alert citizen with the District Control Room, Returning Officer and Field Verification Units (flying squads/static surveillance teams) thereby creating a fast and accurate reporting, action and monitoring system.
