Raipur: Central government gives permission to Chief Minister Mr. Baghel’s proposal for industrial use of oxygen

Raipur, 20 May 2021. The Central Government has given permission on the proposal sent by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel regarding the permission of use of oxygen to the steel industry from the Central Government. The Secretary level committee of the Central Government has given consent to use oxygen to 11 steel industries of Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal for this.
It is to be noted that the proposal of the Union Industries Department of Commerce and Industry has been apprised by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry that the medical industries will be involved in medical and defense production. Permission to use has been issued on 26, 27 and 28 April. Similarly, 17 metric tons of oxygen is being made available daily to the industries on the proposal regarding the requirement of oxygen from the Indian Steel Association. An empowered group of secretaries has also been formed to conduct continuous operations in the steel industries, this group has approved the use of oxygen in the steel industries.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel discussed telephonic discussions with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on May 16 and video conferencing by the Prime Minister with Chief Ministers in view of improvement in Corona condition and adequate availability of oxygen to 20% of steel industries. It was requested to allow the use of oxygen. Mr. Modi assured to consider it.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel had written a letter in this regard to the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, that the situation of corona epidemic in the state is constantly improving. Oxygen producing units are suffering due to lack of demand for oxygen and all steelmaking units in the state have been shut down due to lack of oxygen, due to which millions of laborers have become unemployed. Keeping these circumstances in mind, the steel makers of the state were requested to allow the use of 20 per cent quantity (92 MT) produced in the state. He also said that at any time in future, if the demand for additional medical oxygen arises, the supply of oxygen to the steel making units can be stopped.
