Women’s groups of Gariaband district got a new identity by making attractive rakhi

On August 30, on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, attractive eco-friendly rakhis made of cow dung, bamboo and pearls by the women of self-help groups of Gariaband district will adorn the brothers’ wrists. For this, the women of the group are busy making rakhis. Special help is being given by the district administration in making rakhis. So that they can be made available in the market during the festival season.
Officials of Gariaband district administration told during the discussion that under Pari Bandhan and National Rural Livelihood Mission, 13 women groups of the district are making artistic rakhis of bamboo, cow dung, pearls, gemstones. Under the guidance of Collector Mr. Akash Chikara, beautiful, attractive and environment-safe rakhis are being made by the group on a large scale through various artifacts of artistic pari rakhis of adults and children in all the development blocks of the district. So far 7000 rakhis have been made by the women of the group. Has earned Rs 26 thousand 285 by selling 2,235 rakhis.
Apart from cereals, paddy, rice, pulses, Kumkum, Molly thread are being used by the sisters of the group to prepare Rakhi. Rakhi is being made on a large scale by the Didis of the group with studded pearls, cow dung and bamboo. There is a lot of demand for these rakhis in Gariaband and other districts of the state as well. Didis have set a target of preparing about 40 thousand rakhis this year. After Rakshabandhan, if the brothers want, they can plant the rakhis made of seeds in the pot. The plants that grow out of these seeds will be visible for a long time as a symbol of brother-sister affection. The district administration is helping women self-help groups right from preparing rakhi to providing markets. The price of these eco friendly rakhis ranges from Rs.30 to Rs.250.
