Along with the objections of BJP candidate Lata Usendi who was sitting on dharna in Kondagaon, BJP leaders reached to meet the Chief Electoral Officer regarding the problems related to the counting venue. The BJP delegation that reached the Election Commission included MP Sunil Soni along with Raipur North candidate Purandar Mishra and Raipur Rural candidate Motilal Sahu. After the meeting, MP Sunil Soni said in a discussion with the media that our candidate Lata Usendi is sitting in a dharna in Kondagaon, when The agent and the District President had gone to inspect the counting site inside Kondagaon, during which the District President was stopped. The objection is on how three people from Congress went there, when they were neither district presidents, nor candidates, nor agents. The police administration did not answer this matter. The MP said that the police and administration are adopting double standards. Our candidates and workers are sitting in protest regarding this issue. Counting of votes is on 3rd December. Many complaints have been received from the places where counting of votes is to take place. Pen-calculators are not being allowed to be taken, vehicles are not being allowed for food, they are not even being allowed to reach the hall. We have talked about all these points.
Sunil Soni said that the Election Commission has assured us that it will resolve the issue within 10 minutes by talking to the Kondagaon Collector-SP. Action will be taken against the people concerned with this. What we have demanded is that everyone should be allowed to carry pen-calculator, paper set and food arrangements through RO in the entire 90 assembly constituencies.
MP Soni said that with this we have made a serious demand that there should not be an atmosphere of confusion till the fifth round. The second round starts only after the first round is completed, in the meantime the result of the first round should be declared. Due to delay, there is scope for irregularity, there is a possibility of disturbance. We have said this for all parties. If you agree, the work will be done quickly, there will be no objection.
