Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel performed virtual Bhoomi Pujan of Biodiversity Garden in village Funda of Patan Tehsil under Durg district on the occasion of the launch of Chief Minister’s Tree Plantation Promotion Scheme at his residence office here today. The garden, which is being developed in an area of about 20 acres, will have 3,000 saplings of more than 100 species using Japanese Miyawaki techniques. These mainly include species like Haldu, Bija, Mundi, Sandalwood, Mahogany and Neem.
Laying the foundation stone for this, Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that the Biodiversity Park being developed in Funda will go a long way in environmental conservation as well as in bringing public awareness among the villagers. Apart from providing employment to the local people, this multi-dimensional scheme will also be an important source of educational knowledge for the students and future generations. This project will also become a means of enhancing the natural beauty of the area and making the environment healthy and clean.
Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar said that this project will be completed in the next 5 years at a cost of Rs.80 lakh. Along with environmental protection, the scheme will also help in increasing awareness among the villagers about their environment. Forest Divisional Officer Durg Shri G. Dhammasheel explained that in the Miyawaki technique, different species of plants are planted close to each other, so that the plants can grow naturally. As a result, the plantation becomes about 30 times denser and grows 10 times faster. Under this, the plantation becomes maintenance free after a period of three years.
On this occasion, advisors to the Chief Minister Mr. Rajesh Tiwari and Mr. Vinod Verma, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Subrata Sahu, Principal Secretary Forest Mr. Manoj Kumar Pingua, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force Mr. Rakesh Chaturvedi were present at the Chief Minister’s residence office.
