While Sai ji was telling this, I had decided that I would celebrate my birthday with the school children. The way I make kheer every year on my children’s birthday. Similarly, this time also I will prepare kheer with my own hands and feed it to school children. Today the children ate kheer with great interest. It is my good fortune that he has liked the kheer made by me. Today my birthday was successful.

The tradition of feeding kheer on auspicious occasions is linked to the Vedas.

In Indian and Chhattisgarh tradition, kheer is made on the occasion of birthday. People sweeten their mouth by serving kheer on their birthday. This is our eternal tradition. Whenever there is an auspicious occasion, sweets are offered to the mouth. This tradition started from the Vedic period itself. Kheer has also been called Ksheerpakmodanam in the Vedas. Kheer has such importance that it is believed that Mother Ganga has descended on earth with the blessings of Saptarishis carrying Mangal Kheer.
