Whatever work can be done for the sake of humanity, we should all do it together. Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey said this while addressing the fifth convocation ceremony of Pandit Sunderlal Sharma (Open) University, Chhattisgarh today. He said that we will need such resources in the field of higher education in future, which can enhance our knowledge despite physical distances. The Open University is playing an important role in this field. The Governor congratulated and congratulated all the gold-medal and degree-winning students and wished them a bright future. The Governor also paid homage to the freedom fighter Pandit Sunder Lal Sharma. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, Revenue Minister Shri Jaisingh Agrawal, Higher Education Minister Shri Umesh Patel and other guests attended the occasion.
Governor Ms. Uike said that the posts of lecturers and professors are vacant in the universities and colleges of the state. This problem is more in remote areas like Bastar-Surguja. Due to this the quality of education gets affected. At the same time, educational institutions do not get good grading, due to which they face difficulty in getting assistance from the University Grants Commission. He expressed the need to fill these vacancies at the earliest.
The Governor said that the meeting of the coordination committee has not been held for a long time, it should be convened soon so that policy decisions can be taken for the quality of higher education in the state. The Governor thanked Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel and Higher Education Minister Shri Umesh Patel for the efforts being made for the quality of higher education. He appreciated Shri Patel for the efforts being made for NAAC grading in the colleges.
The Governor said that higher education through distance medium proves to be a boon for such learners who have left their education midway due to some reason. Providing education to such youth is one of our important responsibilities. It should be both our aim and duty to prepare such learners so that they can contribute in the development of the state and the country. To achieve this objective, this university is working with full dedication, it is a matter of happiness.
The governor said that we have been battling the corona epidemic for a long time. All educational institutions are closed. It has had an impact on the students and all of us. It is a good thing that education is being imparted online, but it has a limit. He also expressed the need to consider other options. Ms. Uike suggested to conduct courses on topics like organic agriculture, horticulture, livestock, forest dwellers and women upliftment by the university for the economic and social development of tribals in Chhattisgarh.
While addressing the program, Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel said that our dream of Garhbo Nava Chhattisgarh will be fulfilled only by holistic and multi-dimensional development of the state. Like other educational institutions, Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Open University and the students who earn degrees from here should have a very important role in fulfilling this dream. He said that the students, being associated with the soil of Chhattisgarh, should not only provide their emotional support to the state, but also put all your talent, energy and all efforts in making the life of Chhattisgarh prosperous and happy. Shri Baghel said that when we say ‘Baat hai Abhimaan ke, Chhattisgarhiya Swabhiman ke’, we want the entire pride of the state to emerge. Utilization of all our resources like agriculture, forest, water, minerals, etc., should be done in ensuring the participation and employment of youth. In this way, there should be a sect-many kaj, which should enrich the life of every person with higher education, as well as record everyone’s contribution in the development of the state.
The Chief Minister said that how the participation of higher education should be strengthened in furthering the efforts of self-reliance of the weaker sections of the state. The time has come to think about how farm-forest-water resources, mines, all should be linked to sustainable development and our youth power should have a central role in it.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Shri Jaisingh Agrawal said that distance and open education is an innovation, with its spread now it needs to be given a new direction. The Distance Education Council has been authorized for continuous direction to give shelter to distance education institutions, it has been given certain powers and powers, so that it can function as a responsible institution.
Higher Education Minister Shri Umesh Patel said that colleges are the main means of providing higher education in remote areas. Their development is our main goal. The recruitment of Assistant Professors for these colleges is under process. The State Public Service Commission has declared the results of various subjects. The results of the remaining subjects are also being declared. The appointment of assistant professors will help us in creating a better educational environment in the state.
In the program, the Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi, Professor Shri Nageswara Rao delivered his convocation address. Simultaneously, Leader of Opposition Shri Dharamlal Kaushik also addressed the function. on this occasion Parliament Shri Arun Kumar Saw, Parliamentary Secretaries Smt. Rashmi Singh and Shri Parasnath Rajwade, MLA Shri Shailesh Pandey, Shri Rajneesh Singh, Vice Chancellor Dr. Bansh Gopal Singh, Vice Chancellors and students of various universities were present.
In the convocation, 5 students were given PhD degree in education subject, similarly, two students each in psychology and commerce, one student each in Political Science, Microbiology and Management were given PhD degree. In the convocation, a total of 2105 students were awarded degrees and titles in the session January to December 2019 and 10 thousand 730 students in the session July to June 2019-20. In the session January to December 2019, the students who got first place in merit, Kandala Srinivas (MA Politics), Chandrashekhar Srivas (MA Sanskrit), Vivekchandra Mahilang (MA Hindi), Mohanla Patel (MSc Mathematics), Vikas Kumar Mridha (PGDCA), Nisha Gold medals were awarded to Rajwade (MA English), Chanchal Gaikwad (MA History), Prashant Kumar Rangari (MA Economics), Prakash Chauhan (MA Sociology), Dipanjali Sadawati (B.Lib and ISc). Similarly, in the session July-June 2019-20, Doleshwari (MA Politics), Kavita (MA Sanskrit), Chanuram Nagvanshi (MSc Mathematics), Amina Lakra (BA), Deepika Gupta (BSc), Dhalendra Chandrakar (B.Com), Toshendra Kumar Sahu (B.Ed), Uma Patel (MA Hindi), Priyanka Sahu (MA English), Ratri Aanchala (MA Sociology), Kalpana Devangan (B.Lib & ISc), Ritika (PGDCA), Santosh Kumar Devangan (PG Diploma) gold medal were provided.
