School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam has said that to provide better quality education facilities to a large number of students studying in the tribal areas of the state and to improve the quality of education of the children, based on the results of the survey, a solid Prepare an action plan. Teachers should also be given on-demand training as per the need for teaching language education. Minister Dr. Tekam was addressing a two-day state-level workshop on Chhattisgarh Language Survey and Multilanguage Education Scheme discussion at New Rest House here today. This workshop was organized on 7th and 8th July in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha and UNICEF.
School Education Minister Dr. Tekam congratulated the team for successfully conducting the language survey conducted in the state and preparing the report related to it. He said that Chhattisgarh was the first state which decided to conduct such linguistic survey in the entire state and did it on time. About 95 percent primary schools of the state participated in the survey and informed about their situation. Minister Dr. Tekam said that various education policies and commissions issued so far in India have given constant importance to the children to be taught in the local language. The Right to Education Act has also directed the states to make necessary arrangements for giving opportunities to the children to learn in their own language as far as possible.
Minister Dr. Tekam said that Chhattisgarh is a tribal dominated state. About 32 percent tribals reside in the state. Continuous work is being done by the state government towards doing a lot for the education facility of the children residing in the state. He said that the Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has directed to make necessary arrangements for imparting education to the children in the local language. According to the instructions of the Chief Minister, the School Education Department has prepared and made available teaching materials in four languages ​​and 18 languages ​​for the education of children. Bilingual books, alphabet charts, conversation books, exercise books, local songs and stories etc. have been collected and made available to the schools in classes I and II. Training sessions have also been organized to make teachers efficient for teaching in multilingual teaching conditions.
Minister Dr. Tekam said that Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has made two important announcements during this year’s Shala Pravesh Utsav. First, their operation has been started by announcing the reopening of 260 schools which have been closed for about 15 years. In these schools, the local youth have been identified and given the responsibility to cooperate in the teaching work, which will definitely work keeping in mind the language and culture of the children. He said that keeping in view the ability of children to learn at a young age and the development of the brain, arrangements have been made to teach the children from the age of five by opening the first kindergarten in the primary schools. In the first phase, by opening 5173 kindergartens, necessary arrangements are being made to educate the children in them. Materials for learning in the local language are being shared in these centres. Dr. Tekam said that English is a global language,
School Education Secretary Dr.S Bharathidasan said that to solve any problem, its cause has to be found. The work of language survey in Chhattisgarh has been done by UNICEF. It shows what is the position of the state and what we should do. Dr. Bharathidasan said that if children are taught in a language close to their heart, they will be able to learn better. He said that nothing is difficult, if you want to do it, then the problem is overcome. Children should also have knowledge of English. Keeping this in mind, Swami Atmanand Schools have been opened in the state. It is important that children get education in their native language and they can learn other languages ​​as well. The School Education Secretary said that Chhattisgarh is also a mini India, where many languages ​​are spoken from Surguja to Bastar. It is important for teachers to understand the language of the children. For this they should learn the multilingual. UNICEF Chief New Delhi Mr. Terry Durian, Dr. Dhir Jhingaran of Learning Language Foundation also addressed. On this occasion, UNICEF State Head Mr Job Zakaria, Managing Director Samagra Shiksha Mr Narendra Dugga along with officers and teachers of School Education Department were present.
