Raipur, 22 October 2020. The festival of Deepawali will also be illuminated with “Balod Deepak” made of cow dung. The women of Sangam Self Help Group of village Gujra in Balod district are making colorful colorful diyas from cow dung. It is named “Balod Deepak”. Balod Deepak made of cow dung is also being sold in the capital Raipur and other districts of the state. In Chhattisgarh, the demand for colorful, colorful dung made from cow dung, coconut, urn, swastik, tortoise lamp, piggery etc. is increasing continuously. Apart from the religious significance of these materials made of cow dung, it will also protect the environment.
Members of the Sangam Self Help Group said that they started making cow dung lamps from about a month ago. So far, more than five thousand diyas have been made and started selling. The women said that apart from cow dung, they are also making swastik, auspicious benefits and candle diya from cow dung. Members of the group said that they make about one thousand lamps in a day. The group is also producing decoration materials from cow dung.
Assistant Project Officer of National Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan) said that livelihood activity is being conducted in Pacho development block of Balod district, which includes fifty women, for the manufacture of diyas and other materials from cow dung. By which attractive figures like Diya, Coconut Kalash, Turtle Dia, Gullak etc. are also being made. He informed that fifty thousand diyas, fifteen hundred om, fifteen hundred shri and two thousand auspicious benefits have been prepared in the district so far.
