Raipur, 16 May 2022. Some people write their destiny with their strong intentions. One of such people is also Divyang Avanti Vishwakarma of Badalur, a Naxalite affected village located near Mardapal in Kondagaon. Unable to speak and hear, the woman has set the path of her self-reliance through her hard work. Now she has learned to sew and is standing on her feet. She has also overcome her disability by working in a garment factory run by the state government.
Avanti’s father Shri Mangu Vishwakarma tells that 20-year-old Avanti is unable to hear or speak since childhood, due to which her education became very difficult. Avanti never let his physical weakness overwhelm himself. She was always happy.
Avanti’s eyes always dreamed of standing on her own feet. After completing her tenth standard, Avanti expressed her desire to become self-reliant with her family and teachers. He advised Avanti to go to Collector Jandarshan and request for employment. On the application of Avanti in October 2021, Collector Pushpendra Kumar Meena instructed the Assistant Project Officer of Aajeevika Mission, Puneshwar Verma to get him work in the garment factory.
Shri Puneshwar Verma said that after opening the garment factory, Avanti was contacted and trained in stitching along with quality testing. The biggest problem was because of Avanti’s hearing and speaking difficulties. In such a situation, other girls and trainers of the factory gave him full support. She goes to the factory every morning to do household chores. Gradually she became proficient in her work. The district administration is making arrangements for his free stay in the hostel of Aajeevika College. Avanti’s family members said that they feel proud to see Avanti standing on her feet. They keep on encouraging him. Even in the face of difficulties, Avanti is always smiling.
Seeing Avanti working, initiative is being taken to provide work in the factory by training 30 to 40 differently abled girls, 30 widows and abandoned women in future.
