Raipur: Anicut in Dondapani will be built on the Ib river at a cost of 6 crore 56 lakh

 Raipur, 09 February 2022. Parliamentary Secretary Shri U.D. Minj duly laid the foundation stone for the construction work of Dandapani Anicut in Ib river located in Jashpur district today. This anicut, to be built at a cost of Rs.6 crore 56 lakh, will provide irrigation facility to the farmers by lifting water. 
Addressing the program on this occasion, Shri U.D. Minj said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Chhattisgarh government is working with full commitment in the interest of farmers and villagers. Along with the renovation of old projects, new projects are being constructed to promote irrigation facilities in the state. The demand for Anicut on the Ib river in Dondapani was a long-standing demand of the people of this region, which Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has happily approved and fulfilled the demand of the farmers of the region. Due to its construction, there will be water logging in the river. Due to which the ground water level will increase. Villagers will get the facility of Nistar and farmers near Anicut will be able to take advantage of irrigation by lifting water. He said that water should be available to the farmers for irrigation. Anicut is being constructed for this purpose. The length of this anicut will be 180 meters, width 38 meters and height 3 meters.
Parliamentary Secretary Shri U.D. Minz further said that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel had come to Kunkuri in February 2019, when he had put forth a demand for approval of Anicut in Dondapani and Shekharpur in Ib river. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel and Water Resources, Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey have given their approval in view of our demand and need of the farmers. This will provide irrigation facility to thousands of farmers of Kunkuri, Pathalgaon, Farsabahar Kansabel areas. Farmers will be able to take double, triple crop. He said that the amount has been approved by including Anicut in Dondapani and Shekharpur in the budget. Local public representatives and a large number of villagers were present on the occasion.
