Like always, Raipur North seat is looking high profile this time too. On Monday, two leaders of Congress and BJP rebelled and filed their nominations. Congress leader and councilor Ajit Kukreja has turned rebellious and is contesting as an independent candidate. Savitri Jagat, rebelling against BJP, also took out a nomination rally on Thursday with full show of strength.

Ajit Kukreja was considered a strong contender from Congress. But in his place the party has given ticket to sitting MLA Kuldeep Juneja. Savitri Jagat had demanded ticket from BJP but the party has made Purandar Mishra its candidate. Kukreja’s supporters came out carrying the tricolor.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Ajit Kukreja along with his supporters took out a rally and reached the Collectorate to file nomination. He has also filed his nomination as an independent. After no one from the Sindhi community got the ticket, Kukreja may get full support from the Sindhi community also.

Ajit Kukreja has been elected councilor twice and is currently Raipur Nagar Mayor and also a member of the council. His father Anand Kukreja is also a senior Congress leader. He was also one of the main contenders for the seat from North Assembly seat but after being denied the ticket, he was angry. I am ready for action – Kukreja.

After submitting the nomination, Ajit said that, with a sad heart I have taken the decision, we had no other option, it is very sad that my family has been associated with the Congress Party for 50 years, served the Congress Party, the Government. Even when we came, we never asked for any post.

The way public support is being received, the crowd came to my nomination rally, it means the public is looking for an alternative. The public did not like the work of one candidate and the public does not know that candidate, we will try to be an alternative. It is natural that when the time for withdrawal of nominations ends, the party will take action against indiscipline and I am ready for this. I am not doing politics of cutting votes – Savitri.

Savitri Jagat, who is the state president of Utkal Mahila Mahamanch, said that it was the decision of the high command of the Bharatiya Janata Party that they have given the ticket to someone else from the North Assembly, they did whatever the party felt was appropriate, I work among the public. I am doing it, the public is with me, women have a lot of expectations from me. If a woman MLA comes, she will be able to solve their problems.

Till now I have not resigned from BJP, but I have filed independent nomination. I will contest the elections, there is no question about withdrawing the nomination, the public is with me and the public wants me to contest the elections. I am not doing politics of cutting votes.
