The Chhattisgarh Gambling (Prohibition) Act 2022 has been implemented by the Chhattisgarh government to prevent the trend of illegal money-making by indulging in gambling and speculation and social evil emerging in the form of online betting and gambling.
According to section 10 of the said Act, all the games of gambling where there is a predominance of chance over skill, all such games shall be prohibited from advertisement in electronic/print media. According to Section 11 of the same Act, if anyone violates the provisions mentioned in Section 10, he will be punishable with imprisonment up to 3 years and fine up to Rs 50,000.
Advisory has been issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police Raipur for all the advertising agencies, newspapers, TV channels and portals of the district not to display advertisements related to gambling, betting. It has been said in the advisory that in view of Section 10 and 11 of the Act, any advertisement through which these games are published and promoted in electronic and print media is a punishable offence. The Senior Superintendent of Police has asked not to broadcast such advertisements through any medium.
