Raipur: Action will be taken against the Food Officer if the fair price shops get less quantity of food grains: Amarjit Bhagat

     Raipur, 09 June 2021. Under the chairmanship of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Amarjit Singh Bhagat, a division level review meeting of custom milling and public distribution system was organized in Ambikapur district panchayat meeting hall on Tuesday. In the meeting, Minister  Bhagat inquired about the settlement of paddy accrued in support price in all the districts of the division and implementation of Public Distribution System and availability and storage status of ration material in PDS supply centers. Minister Bhagat told in the meeting that Chief Minister  Bhupesh Baghel has announced to provide free ration to the poor families of the state from July to November 2021 under the Public Distribution System. He directed all the food officers to ensure the storage of food grains as per the wishes of the Chief Minister.
        Minister Bhagat said in the meeting that complaints are being received at many places that shop operators are facing losses due to less quantity of food grains filled in gunny bags. Action will be taken against the concerned Food Officer for supplying small quantities of food grains to the fair price shops operating under the Public Distribution System. He said that after weighing the food grains loaded in gunny bags, only the right quantity should be supplied to the shop operators. Taking serious note of the complaints regarding negligence in distribution of food grains by the fair price shop operators in the meeting,  Bhagat canceled their allotment and directed the officers to make fresh allotment. He said that on the complaint of fair price shops of rural areas, the SDM should issue notices and after hearing them, take action for cancellation. He decided to install CC TV cameras in all fair price shops,
      Minister  Bhagat also reviewed the procurement and lifting of paddy in support price. He said that it is the responsibility of the concerned committees to keep the paddy stored in the committee safe. It will be the responsibility of the committees to compensate for the loss or shortage of paddy in the committee. In the meeting, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Labor Welfare Board Mr. Shafi Ahmed, Vice-President of Twenty Point Implementation Mr. Ajay Aggarwal, MLA Jashpur Mr. Vinay Bhagat, Collector Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Jha along with SDM of Surguja division, Food Officer, District Marketing Officer, Civil Supplies Corporation. And officials of the District Co-operative Bank were present.
