Raipur, 1 September 2020. Newly appointed Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Commission, Shri Gurpreet Singh Babra reviewed the implementation of provisions of National Food Security Act 2013 and Chhattisgarh Food and Nutrition Security Act 2012 in a meeting held at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhavan today. Shri Babra said that to strengthen the public distribution system and strengthen the network of food security in the state, an action plan should be made to bring 222 non-access ration shops under regular access area during the rainy season. He instructed 130 ration shops of Naxal affected area of Bastar division which are not operating in their original panchayats, to be transferred to the original panchayats. In the meeting, it has been decided to take immediate action on the recommendations of the quarterly review report of the implementation of the PDS of the state during the last two years.
At the meeting, Antyodaya, priority and general ration card holders of the Public Distribution System reviewed the ration materials, rice, sugar, salt, jaggery etc. received from fair price shops every month. Apart from this, the distribution of additional allocation of rice received for migrant laborers from the Government of India was also reviewed. Mid-day Meal Scheme, Supplementary Nutrition Diet Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and Rice Scheme for hostels and ashrams were also reviewed. All these schemes reviewed the Grievance Redressal System. Instructions were given to redress the complaints received in the call centers of the Food Department and the complaints received to the District Grievance Redressal Officers within the time limit. The meeting has been asked to specially monitor the quality of ration items supplied under PDS, Supplementary Nutrition Scheme and Mid-Day Meal Scheme. The members of the commission were present in the meeting, including Mr. Ashok Chaudhary, Mrs. Vidya Jagat, Mr. Ashok Sonwani, officers of Food Department, Women and Child Development Department, School Education Department and Scheduled Castes and Tribal Development Department.
