Under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, a state level review of the intensive campaign being conducted to prevent accidents due to animals coming on the road on various roads of the state was conducted at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan here today. In the meeting, the Chief Secretary took information about the intensive action being taken to prevent animals from coming on the roads district wise. Also reviewed the proper arrangements to keep the animals safe by taking them from the roads, Gauthans, Kanji houses and cow sheds.
The Chief Secretary took a detailed review from the officers of the action being taken towards resolving the complaints received at various levels to stop animals from the roads. In this regard, he has instructed the officials to maintain the number of animals removed from the roads and to give advice to the cattle owners of the villages from where most of the animals come on the roads and to take important suggestions at various levels.
The Chief Secretary has instructed the police officers to take necessary action on animal-related accidents on the roads and conduct a detailed analysis of such accidents. The status of cow shelters and the progress in opening new cow shelters were also reviewed in the meeting. Similarly, reviewed the progress of dry places and dry access roads in Gauthans and the status of animals kept in Kanji House, Gauthans, fines from animal owners, care of animals and resolution of complaints. In the meeting, instructions were given to the officials to ensure availability of adequate cow catcher vehicles in rural and urban areas. Similarly, district-wise progress in resolving complaints to prevent animals from coming on the roads was reviewed in detail.
The Chief Secretary has directed all the commissioners of the state to take necessary action to ensure constant monitoring to prevent animals from coming on the roads. In the meeting, Secretary of Agriculture Department Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Mr. Prasanna R., Director Panchayat Mr. Kartikeya Goyal, Director Veterinary Services Mrs. Chandan Tripathi along with Divisional Commissioner, Collector, National Highway Road Authority, National Highway and Public Officials from other departments including construction, panchayat and rural development participated.
