Raipur, 02 November 2020. Damru Bhatra, an accused in the illegal trafficking of a wildlife animal, on the border of Chhattisgarh State and Odisha State, has been arrested along with Pangolin. The above action was taken by the joint team of Ms. Neetu Gupta of the Conservation Care Society Wildlife Trust of India and the Forest Department.
In this regard, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Arun Pandey said that Ms. Gupta got information from Mukhbir about holding a Nag Wildlife Pangolin in Chhattisgarh-Odisha Border for smuggling in Odisha’s village Sarsonpadar. On the basis of this, a pseudo deal was made by Ms. Gupta through Mukhabir for purchasing Pangolin, through Mukhbir. During this period, according to the negotiations, the constable Mr. Vipin Chaturvedi from the team of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau Jagdalpur and Mr. Jaideep Singh of forest enclosure Machkot reached Sarsonpadar village and the accused was asked to walk to Dhanpunji village. In this, Damru Bhatra along with Pangolin was arrested by the team on the spot when the accused Damru Bhatra and his partner Paklu refused to go ahead. But another accused, Paklu, managed to escape from the motor cycle. Accused Damru Bhatra has admitted his crime. On which crime has been registered under Wildlife Protection. Apart from Ms. Neetu Gupta, the departmental staff including inspector Mr. Devendra Singh Rathore, constable Mr. Rajeev Dixit, constable Mr. Vipin Chaturvedi and police team Jagdalpur and Mr. Vinay Chakraborty, forest division, Machkot, were the most important contributors to the above action
