Traditional folk dances of Chhattisgarh will be organized grandly

On November 21, at Pragati Maidan, the people of Delhi will get a glimpse of the rich folk art and culture of Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh State Day will be organized at Amphi Theater in the International Trade Fair, which will be inaugurated by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
During this, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will visit the Chhattisgarh Pavilion and observe the stalls. A glimpse of ‘Garhbo Nava Chhattisgarh’ is being seen in the pavilion of Chhattisgarh. In the pavilion, an attempt has been made to show Chhattisgarh moving towards a strong rural economy and self-reliance.
A glimpse of traditional folk dances of Chhattisgarh will be seen in the cultural evening. Folk artists from Chhattisgarh will present Gaur dance, Parab dance, Bhojli dance, Gedi dance, Sua dance, Panthi dance and Karma dance in this event.
Sua Dance
This is another popular folk dance of Chhattisgarh which is usually performed on the occasion of Gaura’s marriage.
It is basically a dance of women and girls. In this dance women carry a Sua (clay parrot) in a basket and dance around it and sing Sua songs. This dance is performed by going round and round. And clapping is done with hand or with a piece of wood. At the end of this dance, Shiva Gauri marriage is organized. It is also called Gauri dance.
ball dance
This dance is performed by the Dhurwa tribe living in Bastar. This dance is performed by men and women together playing flute, olkhaja and drum, in which a pyramid-like view is seen. This dance is called Sainik Nritya, because the dancers carry the ax and sword, the symbols of valour, during the dance. This dance is organized on the occasion of Madai.
panthi dance
This dance is not only one of the most important forms of folk dance of the region, but is also considered a major custom or ceremony of the Satnami community of Chhattisgarh. This dance is often performed by the community during the celebration of the birth anniversary of Guru Ghasidas which occurs on Magha Purnima. People show their best and represent themselves through this dance. Like any dance form, it is also a combination of many steps and patterns. However, what makes it unique is that it reflects the teachings of its holy master.
marigold dance
This dance is prevalent all over Chhattisgarh, but in Bastar it is performed by the Mudiya tribe on the occasion of Hareli in the month of Savan. It is a male-dominated dance, in which men dance with great speed and skill while maintaining physical balance on the cart. This dance displays physical skill and balance.
karma dance
It is a traditional dance of Chhattisgarh. This is done to please Karma Dev. In this dance, people wear traditional costumes and dance and sing Chhattisgarhi songs.
This folk dance of Chhattisgarh is generally performed by the tribal groups of the state like Gonds, Oraons, Baigas etc. This dance is performed to mark the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the spring season. Both men and women of the villages participate in this dance performance. There is also a lead singer in the team of performers for the Karma dance.
gaur dance
This dance is performed by the Maria tribe living in Bastar on the occasion of Jatra festival. In this dance, the young man wears a cow’s lion on his head by making a crown out of cowries. Hence this dance is also called Gaur Nitya. Only men participate in this dance. The only instrument played by women is called Tirtuddi.
