Voting for the by-elections in three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies was conducted smoothly and peacefully.
The State Election Commission expressed its gratitude to all those directly and indirectly involved in the voting.

Voting for the by-elections in the three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies in the state was conducted smoothly and peacefully today. 72.96 percent voters exercised their franchise in the Panchayat by-election and 73.66 percent in the urban body by-election. The State Election Commission has expressed its gratitude to all the people and personnel directly and indirectly connected with it for peaceful and smooth polling during the by-election.
Today, in the three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions, votes were cast for one post of District Panchayat member, eight posts of Janpad Panchayat member, 67 posts of Sarpanch and 65 posts of Panch from 7 am to 3 pm. A total of 402 polling stations were set up for voting. 72.96 percent voters exercised their franchise in the Panchayat by-election. 74.01 percent male voters and 71.93 percent female voters cast their votes to elect the Panchayat representative. After the end of polling, the work of counting of votes was completed peacefully at all the polling stations. The results of their tabulation and election will be announced on January 12.
Votes were also cast for the by-elections in total 14 urban bodies of 12 districts of the state today. Voting was held from 8 am to 5 pm for the election of councilors in 15 wards of three municipal corporations, four municipalities and seven town panchayats of the state. A total of 27 polling stations were set up for this. The average voting percentage in urban bodies was 73.66. 75.32 percent male voters and 72.07 percent female voters cast their votes to elect ward councillors. The results of counting of votes and elections in all the urban bodies that voted today will be announced on January 12 at the headquarters of the concerned urban bodies.
