The Chhattisgarh State Information Commission received a total of 6667 applications for appeals and complaints from January 2022 to November 16, 2022, out of which 4901 cases of appeals and complaints were resolved. The then State Chief Information Commissioner disposed of 1220 appeal and complaint cases. Similarly, State Information Commissioner Shri Ashok Aggarwal disposed of 1421 appeals and complaints, State Information Commissioner Shri Manoj Trivedi disposed of 1050 appeals and complaints and State Information Commissioner Shri Dhanvendra Jaiswal disposed of 1210 appeals and complaints.
Information is the source of knowledge of a person. It is the basic “power” of development. Information enhances a person’s ability to live and struggle, develops cooperation, transparency and restraint in who is giving information. In addition to the central and state governments, Panchayati Raj Sarthas, local governments and non-governmental organizations that receive government grants directly or indirectly, have been included in this law.
Chhattisgarh State Information Commission Commission received 4066 second appeal cases from January 2022 to November 16, 2022, in which 3513 cases were resolved. Resolved second appeal cases include 842 cases by the then State Chief Information Commissioner Mr. Raut and 961 second appeal cases by State Information Commissioner Mr. Ashok Agarwal. State Information Commissioner Mr. Manoj Trivedi has disposed of 721 second appeal cases and State Information Commissioner Mr. Dhanvendra Jaiswal has disposed of 989 second appeal cases.
Similarly, from January 2022 to November 16, 2022, the Commission received 2601 complaint cases, in which 1388 complaint cases were resolved, in which the then State Chief Information Commissioner Mr. Raut handled 378 complaint cases, State Information Commissioner Mr. Ashok Agarwal 460 complaints. State Information Commissioner Mr. Manoj Trivedi has resolved 329 complaints and 221 complaints by State Information Commissioner Mr. Dhanvendra Jaiswal.
In the State Information Commission, from the point of view of administrative and work convenience, the functions of the Commission have been divided among the Information Commissioners. At present, the commission has four video conferencing facilities, which are being used continuously for hearing cases received from applicants and complainants from remote areas of the state. At the time of hearing in appeal cases by the Commission, after giving notice to the Public Information Officer and the appellant, they are called along with the records on the prescribed date and both the parties are given a proper opportunity to present their arguments. Chhattisgarh State Information Commission has time-bound redressal after hearing second appeals and complaints. Appellant and Public Information Officer, First Appellate Officer in Chhattisgarh State Information Commission were directed to send arguments, reply in writing to the commission by e-mail, WhatsApp and fax.
