59 percent increase in the number of beneficiaries in the last one year

The popularity of the Godhan Nyaya Yojana in the state and the involvement of the villagers in it is increasing rapidly. Under this scheme in Gauthans, the purchase of cow dung at Rs. 2 per kg has provided better opportunities for employment and income in the villages. Due to the profit from selling cow dung, animal husbandry has started getting a boost in the rural areas. A new environment has been created for the conservation and promotion of livestock. At present, more than 3 lakh 28 thousand rural animal husbandry farmers are directly benefiting from the purchase of cow dung in Gauthans. In the last one year, the number of cattle rearing villagers benefited under this scheme has increased from 2.06 lakh to more than 3.28 lakh. This increase in the number of beneficiaries is 59 percent.
Under the Garuva program of Suraji Gaon Yojana in the state, Gauthans are being constructed rapidly in the villages for protection and promotion of cattle. So far in the state, approval has been given for the construction of Gothans in 10,732 villages, out of which 9720 Gothans are built and 825 Gothans are under construction. Right now the construction work of 187 Gothans is to be started. There is free arrangement of livestock care, treatment and fodder-water in the constructed Gothans by the Gothan committees as per the intention of the Government of Chhattisgarh.
It may be noted that the Godhan Nyaya Yojana was started in the state on July 20, 2020, from the Hareli festival. Under this scheme, till February 15, 2023, 105.53 lakh quintal cow dung has been purchased in Gothans, in lieu of which Rs 211.25 crore has been paid to cow dung sellers
