On the occasion of Children’s Day, the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam today honored 26 schools in 11 districts of Chhattisgarh with state level cleanliness awards at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium located in the Science College campus of Raipur. did. The program was jointly organized by UNICEF and Government of Chhattisgarh. In this, 20 schools were awarded on overall performance and six schools for best performance in sub-categories.
School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam while addressing the function said that competition is organized among schools to promote cleanliness. It is the responsibility of the child, parents and the school administration to keep the schools clean. In schools where all these three have equal participation, there is cleanliness and greenery all around. He said that cleanliness is not the responsibility of any one person, but it is the responsibility of the house, society, community and every citizen of the country. We should understand the importance and benefits of cleanliness. Lack of sanitation leads to the spread of dangerous infectious diseases and deadly diseases. We should adopt cleanliness in our daily life.

Dr. Tekam said that it is a matter of pride for the state that Tagore International School Sakri Takhatpur in Bilaspur district has been selected for the National Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar to be organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India on 19th November at New Delhi. He informed that 39 schools across the country have been selected for the National Award 2022 for this national level award. Dr. Tekam said that about eight lakh schools across the country including 55,217 schools in Chhattisgarh have participated in the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar, 2021-22. The state of Chhattisgarh has secured the third position in the country with a record of 97.7 percent application submission for maximum school participation in Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22.
Managing Director Samagra Shiksha Shri Narendra Kumar Dugga informed that this award is given in two categories, in which overall performance in all sub-categories (total score) and best performance in each sub-category i.e. water, toilet, washing, operation, maintenance- It is given for maintenance, capacity building and behavior change and preparedness for COVID-19. He said that for cleanliness in schools, cleanliness competition should be held at district level, block level and cluster level. Which will give better results next year. The program was also addressed by the State Head of UNICEF, Mr. Jab Zakaria.
School Education Minister Dr. Tekam honored 20 schools for their overall performance in the program. These include Higher Secondary School Aditya Birla Public School Ravan District Balodabazar, St. Xavier’s PS Rajpur District Balrampur, Government High School Pali and Tagore International School Sakri District Bilaspur, Government Shiv Singh Verma Girls Higher Secondary School Dhamtari, Government Upper Primary School Potia and Swami Atmanand Government English Medium School, Kumhari District Durg. Along with this, Government Upper Primary School of Jashpur district, Duldula, Swami Atmanand Government Excellent English Medium Naveen Adarsh ​​Higher Secondary School Jashpur, Government Upper Primary Basantala Jashpur, St. Mary Ems, Kunkuri, DAV Public School, Kandora, Government Upper Primary Parswara of Kawardha district and Government Upper Primary Bhagatpur, Kids Campus Public School of Korea District, Hiragiri Haldibari,
