Raipur, 16 February 2022. The Narva, Garuva, Ghurva, Bari programs of Suraji Gaon Yojana, which are included in the flagship schemes of the Chhattisgarh government, have ensured their utilization along with saving the local natural resources. This has started a new era of change in rural life and economy. Due to Narva development program, natural drains are being treated as per the requirement and made useful for water conservation, ground water enrichment and irrigation. In the last three years, various structures have been constructed under treatment work at a cost of Rs.614 crore to make 2477 natural drains (Narwa) useful in the state. Due to which the treated drains are now getting waterlogged till March-April. Due to this, along with nistar to the villagers, the farmers have also started getting irrigation facility through pumps.
The Narva Vikas Program has helped in checking the wasted water in the drains. In Janjgir-Champa district, a stop dam has been constructed at a cost of Rs 34.55 lakh at Karranala of Gatwa village of Baloda development block from Campa item in the forest division Champa. With the construction of this stop, 20 farmers on the banks of the drain have started getting irrigation facility in about 125 acres. Due to the filling of sufficient amount of water in Staff Dam, farmers have started earning extra income by cultivating vegetables besides food grains. Plants are also being prepared by the Forest Department in the nursery by using the water of Gatwa Stop Dam. The length of Karranala is 12 kms. Due to the construction of the stop dam, water logging in an area of 2200 hectares has started.
