Malnourished children get free health check-up, medicines and consultation facility from pediatricians.

Chief Minister Child Reference Scheme is being run to reduce the rate of malnutrition in the state by bringing severely malnourished children out of the cycle of malnutrition. Under this, about 1 lakh 46 thousand children have been benefited in the year 22-23.
Under the scheme, severely malnourished and distressed children are provided medical examination facilities, medicines prescribed by doctors and consultation with pediatricians as per requirement. This facility is provided in every development block by marking 2 days in a month as reference days. Infections in children are identified through medical examination. Apart from this, under the scheme, facility of health checkup up to a maximum of Rs 300 has been provided in private medical testing institute.
Under the scheme, medicines up to a maximum of Rs 500 are provided to a beneficiary in a year and if necessary, medicines worth more than this amount are also provided in consultation with the Medical Officer. There is a provision to give an honorarium of Rs 1000 and travel expenses up to Rs 500 as a mark of respect for the services of a private pediatrician. Apart from this, funds are also provided to Anganwadi workers for transportation of malnourished children.
