In today’s competitive era, attention has to be paid on the all-round development of the children from the childhood only then they will be able to achieve better achievements. Teachers should give priority to the moral education of children. A teacher is a role model for his students. Therefore, better teachers certainly play a vital role in creating well-mannered better leaders.
Teachers have the important responsibility of shaping the lives and character of the future leaders of the country. Education is the only medium through which we can continuously move forward on the path of progress. The birthday of the country’s President Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is celebrated as Teacher’s Day on 5 September. Some former students and friends requested him to celebrate his birthday when he was the President of India. He politely said that it would be better if you celebrate this day as Teacher’s Day. After this, 5th September started being celebrated as Teacher’s Day in our country.
Swami Vivekananda had said that “The education by which we can build our lives, become human beings, form character and harmonize thoughts, is truly worthy of being called education”. Teachers, through education and knowledge, create better human beings who contribute to nation building. The culture and values of our country give special respect and place to teachers. The government of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has not only kept the promises made to teachers and students to improve the education system and the condition of teachers, but has also started implementing them. For the first time in the state of Chhattisgarh, under the Right to Education Act, children up to class 12th have been provided the right to free education. Along with the system of free and compulsory education in Chhattisgarh, mother tongue is being given importance in the sequence of National Education Policy-2020.
A person accepts education in his mother tongue with more interest and ease. English is a global language which is why its teacher should be given importance. Considering the sentiments of the people of Chhattisgarh and the global recognition of the English language, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel decided to start Swami Atmanand Excellent English Medium School in the interest of the children of the state. The Government of Chhattisgarh wants that the children of Chhattisgarh can participate in world level competitions and achieve success. Permanent measures have been taken by the state government to improve the education sector.
Direct recruitment of teachers was started for the first time after the formation of the state. Under which advertisement was issued for direct recruitment on 14 thousand 580 posts in the first phase. Out of these, 10 thousand 834 candidates have been given appointment. At present, the process of direct recruitment for the posts of 12 thousand 489 lecturers, teachers and assistant teachers is going on for Bastar and Surguja divisions. On August 12, 2023, appointment letters were provided to 232 candidates at the Chief Minister’s residence by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel. Similarly, out of 5 thousand 772 posts of teachers advertised, appointment letters are being issued to the candidates for 3 thousand 449 posts. Out of these, 2 thousand candidates were given appointment in the Rajiv Yuva Mitan Sammelan organized on 02 September.
Swami Atmanand Excellent School Scheme has brought a new revolution in the field of school education. In the last year 2020-21, this scheme was started from 51 schools, which has now increased to 727 schools. Out of these 351 schools are of Hindi medium and in 376 schools education is being given in English medium. The process of setting up an international level boarding school in Nava Raipur has also been started.
The need for national level academic and administrative training was being felt in the state for a long time, so that teachers could take advantage of the ongoing research and training in the field of education at the national level. Keeping all these things in mind, the state government has made a provision of Rs 1 crore in the budget for the National Teacher Training Institute in Nava Raipur for the upcoming academic session.
For the purpose of encouraging teachers and certifying their efficiency, teachers are given Governor’s Award and Chief Minister’s Gaurav Alankaran Award. Dr. Padumlal Punnalal Bakshi Memorial Award, Dr. Mukutdhar Pandey Memorial Award, Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra Memorial Award, Shri Gajanand Madhav Muktibodh to four teachers in the name of 4 great literary personalities of the state at the state level teacher honor ceremony on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. Memorial Award is given. Each teacher who is honored with the award given in the memory of the great personalities of the state at the Teachers’ Day function is given Rs 50,000 each and a citation. Along with this, an amount of Rs 21-21 thousand and a citation is given to each of the teachers selected for the State Teacher Award at the ceremony.
In the context of mother tongue teaching in the state, sports material in the mother tongue of children in classes I and II and inclusion of 25 percent content in local languages Chhattisgarhi, Gondi, Halbi, Sargujiha and Kudukh in the textbook of language (Hindi) of classes III to V. Has been done In order to connect the study of Hindi with the mother tongue of children in class I and II, equivalent words of Hindi words in 06 regional languages have been given. Multilingual education is being done in 12 languages in 19 districts of the state.
Expressing condolences to the families of the deceased government employees, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel relaxed the limit of 10 percent for compassionate appointment. The School Education Department has given compassionate appointments to 1722 people on the posts of Assistant Teacher, Assistant Grade and Peon.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has abolished the validity period of 7 years of Teacher Eligibility Test Certificate in Chhattisgarh and made it lifelong. In the School Education Department, education workers were merged as Panchayat teachers and school teachers. According to the government’s manifesto, the Education Department has also merged more than 35 thousand teacher cadre (Panchayat and urban bodies) who have completed two years of service.
In the Naxal affected areas of the state, arrangements for education of 27 thousand 762 children have been made through 60 POTA cabins in place of school buildings destroyed due to Naxal activities.
The School Education Department is providing new opportunities to its students on new innovations every day. Chhattisgarh has received various awards at the national level. Padhi Tunhar Duar received the Award of Excellence for doing excellent work in innovation and the work done by teachers during the difficult times of Corona period was recognized at the national level. Nclear and Tele Practice App developed by NIC of the state has received the Digital Technology Sabha Award.
