Balod. The torrential rain in the district has exposed the poor road construction on the national highway. Today, in the Doundi block, the road on one side of the bridge near Kariyatola on National Highway 930 going from Kusumkasa to Balod collapsed badly. After which, due to the fear of any untoward incident, the police department has installed temporary barricades to protect the passersby from accidents and to alert them. In such a situation, if there is heavy rainfall in the coming days, then it cannot be denied that the road will break and crumble. At the same time, despite the complaint, there is anger among the people of Kusumkasa village due to no solution being found till now and no action being taken against the responsible persons.

lease note that the road being constructed from Jhalmala to Sherpar at a huge cost of about 133 crores has developed cracks at several places, while on one side of the big bridge built on NH 930 from Kusumkasa to Balod, despite a returning wall made of concrete to prevent the soil put under the road from sliding, 10 metres of the road has sunk badly, while on the other side also 10 metres of the road has sunk by more than six inches and the approach road built from the side of this big bridge has also broken badly.

Former district member Anil Sudhar says that he has complained about this haphazard construction of NH more than a hundred times verbally and in writing to the district administration and NH officials, but no one is ready to listen. From this, one can guess how far the contractor’s reach is and even after such poor construction, no concrete action is taken against either the contractor or the NH officials. It seems that now the administration will wake up only when the people of this area come out on the streets.

It is worth noting that earlier on Saturday, the diversion road built for traffic next to an under-construction bridge at Manpur-Mohla on the same NH was washed away and the people there have warned of a blockade and agitation if the road is not constructed soon along with an investigation of this type of poor construction. On the other hand, no NH official including the district administration is ready to answer in this regard. Now it has to be seen what action the big leaders and officials of the state and central government take against the contractor and the concerned officials.
