Raigad, 9 September 2020. Lalit Kumar of Hirri village in Raigad district sold cow dung under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana and bought a cow with the money he received. Buying and selling of livestock is quite common in the villagers. People associated with farming farming are engaged in this venture. But buying Lalit’s cow is quite special. The way he has collected the money to buy the cow makes it special. He has collected the amount to buy another cow from cow dung. This is possible due to the Godhan Nyaya Yojana of the Chhattisgarh government, in which Lalit earned 8 thousand rupees by selling cow dung and bought a Holstein Friesian breed cow in installments of 55 thousand rupees. This breed is known for its milk production capacity.
Lalit bought the first cow to start the first milk business five years ago. Gradually, he moved his business forward. During these five years, he used the money earned by selling milk to take care of the cows and run the household. By saving the same money, he also moved ahead by purchasing 5 to 6 cows in the last five years. But in the last about one to one and a half months, he collected so much money from cow dung and bought a new cow in installments. Extremely overwhelmed by this, Lalit says that it is a big thing for me to gather capital so soon to buy a cow. He currently owns 10 animals and sells around 60 to 70 kg of dung daily.
Lalit tells that he wants to open a big dairy. It has also strived for a long time, but the pace of work was not getting as fast. He is getting confidence from the Godhan Nyaya Yojana that soon he will be able to realize his dream. For this, he thanks the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and the Government of Chhattisgarh, saying that there can be no better plan to collect capital for the villagers without any additional investment from local resources. Cattlemen are directly benefited by this, new opportunities of employment are also being created by making vermicompost and other products of cow dung. The fertilizer made from cow dung, which is important for increasing fertility of the land and for producing crop beneficial for human health, is well known. This scheme will definitely write a new chapter of prosperity in rural areas.
