Raigarh, 24 January 2022. The Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana launched with the objective of empowering the farmers financially is providing new energy for agriculture among the farmers of the state. In Chhattisgarh, now farmers are giving priority to other crops along with paddy. The main reason for this is the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana of the government, under which instead of paddy, the input amount is given to the farmers along with expansion in the area of other crops like pulses, oilseeds, plantation. Due to this the farmers are getting the price of their crop and also the input amount from the government. The government’s Godhan Nyay scheme is also playing an important role in reducing the dependence of farmers on chemical fertilizers. Due to which farmers are now moving towards organic farming.
70-year-old Safed Gupta, a resident of village Saraipali under Pusaur development block, has presented a great example of how the agriculture sector is flourishing due to the schemes launched by the government. At this stage of age, this energy for agriculture was found as a result of the plans of the government. Mr. Gupta owns 4.800 hectares of irrigated land, in which he is engaged in agriculture since 1980. In the past, paddy was grown in the entire area. With time Mr. Gupta started giving priority to other crops as well. In this way they produced pulses, oilseeds and horticulture crops on priority. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana in the year 2021-22 Kharif season, he has 1. Arhar crop in 500 hectares was done organic farming with vermi compost. Due to which the cost was reduced and the profit increased and he got 20 lakhs. Mr. Gupta says this amount was more than he expected. Apart from this, he has taken advantage of the tube well mining scheme of the Agriculture Department for irrigation in the fields. In which irrigation is done using drip irrigation. Mr. Gupta is getting the benefit of the government’s Godhan Nyay scheme. Shri Gupta is very much interested in the technology related to agriculture and knowledge of advanced varieties of crops. For which they get information from radio and television as well as from officials of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Horticulture Department. Due to which they get more benefits from getting help to do advanced agriculture. Due to this, the socio-economic status of Shri Gupta is continuously increasing.
Organic agriculture is the first priority, farmers are being encouraged
Mr. Gupta says that his first priority is organic agriculture. As a result of organic farming, the cost is reduced and the profit is more. Other farmers are also being encouraged by Shri Gupta to do agriculture with organic fertilizers and organic pesticides, advanced agricultural machines. So that other farmers can also get the benefit of it.
