Raipur. After the return of BJP to power in the state, preparations have begun to remove the Youth Hub Chowpatty located in Science College, Raipur. Which is to be shifted to Amanaka. Former MLA Vikas Upadhyay took out a torch rally today in protest against the removal of Chowpatty. A large number of Congress leaders, workers and traders of Chowpatty participated in it.In fact, at the beginning of last year, Raipur Municipal Corporation and Smart City Company had proposed to build a Chowpatty adjacent to the Science College ground on the side of GE Road, which Rajesh Moonat opposed and staged a sit-in for 11 days. Apart from former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, top BJP leaders had also attended the protest and supported Moonat’s movement.
But even after all this, when the construction of Chowpatty was not stopped, Moonat knocked the door of the High Court. After the petition was rejected in the High Court, Moonat accused the Raipur Municipal Corporation and the Smart City Company of presenting wrong facts regarding the construction of Chowpatty.
BJP councillors also protested in the corporation
BJP councillors in Raipur Municipal Corporation also met Smart City EMD and submitted a memorandum in protest against Chowpatty. The councillors said that there are educational institutions all around the site. You cannot stop anyone from coming to Chowpatty. In such a situation, anti-social elements will also enter Chowpatty and our students will feel unsafe. Despite all the protests, the construction of Chowpatty continued as usual, and shops were also allotted in October last year. But the controversy over Chowpatty did not end. Sometimes there have been allegations of violating tender conditions and sometimes of disorder in Chowpatty. Now when instructions have been given to remove Chowpatty, the atmosphere is expected to improve.
