A day before the paddy procurement begins in Chhattisgarh, a major action has been taken against illegal paddy transportation in Kabirdham district. 700 sacks of illegal paddy have been seized in Chilfi, a border area of Kabirdham district adjoining Madhya Pradesh. The police have seized a truck full of paddy and taken an accused into custody and are interrogating him. This case is from Chilfi police station area.

According to the information, the paddy being brought from UP was being prepared to be consumed in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. The accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned for not presenting the documents related to the paddy. The value of the illegal paddy has been estimated at Rs 5 lakh. This action has been taken jointly by the police and the revenue department team.

SHO Umashankar Rathore said, strict vigil is being maintained at the check posts in the border areas to prevent illegal transportation of paddy.
