In the puja, leaves, twigs and Dashmool of the Bhilwa tree are specially planted in the standing crop and worshipped. Farmers believe that this protects them from many types of harmful insects and diseases in the crop. On this occasion, especially Chhattisgarhi dishes, such as jaggery cheela are made at home.
