  • The problem of drinking water has started to be solved in the water-scarce villages through the Nal Jal Yojana

Korba 24 July 2024: This is Vimalta village surrounded by mountains under Korba development block of Korba district. Even though the number of families living in this village is not very high, but the problem of water here is very big. When did the summer come? The hand pump of the village used to stop working due to the water level going down. The people of this village have seen many such summer seasons, which made them dependent on every drop of water and made them shed tears. Now that the Jal Jeevan Mission has installed taps in every house in the village, the villagers do not have to shed tears in the summer days for drinking water. With the taps installed in the village and the connections of the houses, they get a stream of clean water in summer and rainy season. They do not have to go to the dangerous Dhodhi, about a kilometer away, below the mountain, taking the trouble to fill water.

In village Vimalta under Nakia Panchayat of Korba block, tap connections have been installed in every house through Jal Jeevan Mission. In this water-scarce village, the problem of water used to become severe every year during the summer. During the rains, people had to draw water from the well between the rocks of the mountain, risking their lives. During this time, there was also a danger of falling due to slippery stones. They were forced to drink muddy water. Ramvati Bai, Phusundari Bai, women of village Vimalta, said that as soon as summer arrives, everyone has to struggle for water. The problem increased even more after the water level went down. During the rains, they had to manage with very little water. Now, with the tap connection in the house, water is available in the morning and evening. They do not have to bring water from the well 1 km away. They said that seeing the problem of water during the summers, they felt like crying. Villager Dilmati Bai said that due to continuous drawing of water from the nearby hand pump, the hand pumps also got damaged. Solar dual pump has been installed in the village, due to which the villagers have started getting drinking water easily. He told that women had to face the most trouble for drinking water in their homes. They had to bring water from far away. Now such problem has been resolved. Janeu Singh of the village says that installing taps in every house is a very good initiative. Clean drinking water is being available from this. Tap connections have also been installed in the houses. Villagers have started getting relief from water supply. With the installation of solar dual pump, water facilities have been available 24 hours a day. It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev has pledged to provide drinking water to every house. Under the direction of Collector Shri Ajit Vasant, the Public Health Engineering Department has installed solar dual pumps in remote villages with the help of CREDA and provided tap connections to the houses. This has reduced the serious problem of water in remote areas. They are able to get water at home.
