Women earn Rs. 21 lakh through Vermicompost, pisciculture, mushroom production, vegetable cultivation, poultry farming, and the sale of lamps manufactured from cow dung.

The Godhan NYAY Yojana implemented by the Chhattisgarh Government has emerged as a new ray of hope for women. The manufacture of Vermicompost and other economic activities are undertaken in Gauthans, which provide additional income to them. The members of the Sadguru Women Self-help Group and Farmer Welfare Committee in the Gauthan of Donde village under the Harangadh Panchayat in Pakhanjur Tehsil have earned Rs. 21 lakh 57 thousand through the manufacture of Vermicompost, pisciculture, mushroom production, vegetable cultivation, poultry farming, and the sale of lamps prepared from cow dung.
The President of the Sadguru Women’s Self-Help Group, Mrs. Nareshwari Kotwar, said that the women in her group are manufacturing Vermicompost from the cow dung purchased in Gauthans. Moreover, they are also engaged in pisciculture, poultry farming, vegetable cultivation, mushroom production, and the manufacture of lamps, flower pots, and idols from cow dung, which is providing them with a good income. She said that 13,200 quintals of cow dung were purchased in Gauthan. 3614.92 quintals of Vermicompost and 570 quintals of Supercompost were manufactured by cooperative committees, which has earned the group a net income of Rs. 15.07 lakh. The self-help group has also manufactured lamps and flower pots from cow dung and earned an income of Rs. 2 lakh 4 thousand 500 from their sale. They earned Rs. 2 lakh 72 thousand from vegetable and mushroom production, pisciculture, and poultry farming. Additionally, the sale of earthworms has also earned them Rs. 1 lakh 77 thousand. Therefore, the women have earned a net income of Rs. 21 lakh 57 thousand. All 19 members of the women’s self-help group have earned Rs. 1 lakh 13 thousand each, enabling them to provide for their children’s education. She said that the Godhan NYAY Yojana has provided these women with many employment opportunities that have improved their economic conditions. While expressing her gratitude to the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and the Government of Chhattisgarh, she said that livelihood-oriented activities in Gauthans, including the manufacture of Vermicompost from cow dung, have made the lives of women easier.
