Raipur, October 29, 2021: The lifestyle of a special backward tribe Baiga has been showcased live in the exhibition of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Development Department at the National Tribal Dance Festival site. Through the exhibition, the lifestyle of Baiga tribe as well as their socio-economic aspects have been presented in an attractive manner. Devgudi (Sarai tree, Mahua tree) Naga Baiga-Naga Bagin has been displayed for the first time at the entrance. The herbs and traditional food items used by the Baiga tribe are also displayed here.
In the exhibition, the Baiga tribe’s wedding mandap (Madwa), fishing nets and cloth ornaments, besides musical instruments like tura, dafda, flute, tidki, etc., traditional tattooing, chaupal remain the center of attraction for the people. Visitors to the exhibition can get a glimpse of the traditional Dhenki, Baiga Awaas of rice mashing here.
An attractive model of tribal children’s ashram, marshy district Kabridham has been displayed in the exhibition. Tribal literature published by Tribal Research and Training Institute has been displayed in the stall of the department. In this, along with a booklet showing the social, economic and cultural aspects of the particular backward tribes, the tribal atlas of Chhattisgarh has also been displayed. It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh is the third state in the country in which the tribal atlas of Chhattisgarh has been prepared.
