Narayanpur: Interdepartmental coordination meeting chaired by Collector for eradication of malaria

Narayanpur, 21 October 2020 . Under the chairmanship of Collector Shri Abhijeet Singh, an interdepartmental coordination meeting for the eradication of malaria was held in the collectorate’s meeting hall. The collector, while discussing malaria eradication, reviewed the malaria cases and efforts being made for its prevention and programs run by the Health Department for malaria eradication. He inquired about the areas most affected by malaria and inquired about the works being done for malaria eradication in these areas. Collector Mr. Singh Malaria Testing Kit, Got information about mosquito net distribution and staff engaged in work. He inquired about the people found to be malaria positive in the malaria-free Bastar campaign conducted in the months of January-February and June-July. Mr. Singh instructed to put Gambusia fish into the ponds to destroy the malaria larvae. The collector surveyed all the ponds in the district and gave instructions to put Gambusia fish within 10 days. Municipality officer was asked to cooperate for putting fish in the municipality area. District Panchayat President Smt. Shyambati Netam, Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat Mr. Rahul Dev, Civil Surgeon Dr. MK Suryavanshi along with Public Health Engineering, Chief Municipality Officer, Fisheries Department and District level officers of other departments were present.  
    Collector Mr. Abhijeet Singh said at the meeting that mosquitoes give away their larvae at the places where there is water logging. Care should be taken in such places that there is no water logging and shokpit should be made by the panchayats. Health staff should spray kerosene or other medicines at such places. Regular use and distribution of mosquito nets in ashram-hostels must be done by Assistant Commissioner Tribal Development Department. At the same time, spraying and fogging of anti-malarial medicines should be ensured by the Municipal Officer. The collector said that the people present in the gram sabha to be held in the gram panchayats should be made aware about the prevention of malaria and a point must be kept for prevention of malaria.
    Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. AR Gota informed that efforts are being made continuously by the Health Department to eradicate malaria. Malaria-free Bastar Abhiyan campaign has been launched for malaria eradication in the district. In the first phase of this campaign 173000 people were tested. In which 11551 people were found positive. In the second phase, 160000 people were tested, out of which 6465 people were found positive. The rate of malaria in the district has come down by 57 percent. People are being made aware through various means to prevent malaria. For which people are being given information about distribution of free mosquito nets, regular use of mosquito nets, non-filling of water around the house, etc. He informed that there is enough stock of malaria screening kits and medicines to prevent malaria in the district.
