Municipal elections 2025: Congress announced its candidates in the remaining 4 wards of the capital, while 3-time former councilor Sameer Akhtar joined the Aam Aadmi Party

Raipur. As the date of urban body elections in Chhattisgarh is getting closer, political activities are intensifying on many seats. Today, former Congress leader from Raipur and 3-time councilor from Raipur, Sameer Akhtar, has joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Aam Aadmi Party has made him the party’s candidate from ward 62 of Raipur Municipal Corporation in place of official candidate Rameez Aliaz. Congress, which has already announced its candidates in 66 out of 70 wards, has announced its candidates in the remaining 4 wards. The name of Mayor Ejaz Dhebar’s wife Arjuman Dhebar is also included among these candidates.

Let us tell you that Aam Aadmi Party has declared Sameer Akhtar as its candidate from Ward 62 Shaheed Rajiv Pandey Ward. Akhtar has been a three-time councillor from here after contesting elections on a Congress ticket and has also been a MIC member.

Today, after councillor Bunty Hora of Shaheed Hemu Kalani ward, Sameer Akhtar resigned from Congress. In a press conference held after being declared the candidate of Aam Aadmi Party, he also expressed anger on the city and block president of Congress. Sameer Akhtar said that giving tickets to dishonest leaders will harm Congress and the party has lost not because of its policies but because of a few leaders. During this, he talked about the tradition of touching feet and giving and taking in Congress and said that the workers who honestly carried the flag of the party were not being treated well.

Regarding joining Aam Aadmi Party, Sameer Akhtar said that despite working honestly with the Congress party, I was not given importance. I am impressed with the ideology of Aam Aadmi Party and now I will work honestly with Aam Aadmi Party.

Congress announced its candidates in these wards

Arjuman Dhebar from Ward 45 Maulana Abdul Rauf Ward, Tarachand Yadav from Ward 47 Mother Teresa Ward, Ramkumar Sahu from Ward 52 Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ward and Surjeet Sahu from Ward 56 Arvind Dixit Ward have been given the councillor ticket. Party sources say that there could have been a big rebellion over the names of those who are being given tickets in these wards, due to which these names have been approved after a lot of deliberation.
