On the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, poor families living in slums of urban areas of Chhattisgarh are being provided free treatment facilities. So far, 46 lakh 23 thousand 554 people have got the facility of treatment through this scheme.
Under the Chief Minister’s Urban Slum Health Scheme, 120 mobile medical units equipped with doctors, paramedical teams, medical equipment and medicines are now providing health facilities to the people in the slums of the urban areas of the entire state. Pathology tests of 11 lakh 35 thousand 511 patients have been done so far through this scheme. Along with this, free medicines have also been given to more than 39 lakh 31 thousand 344 patients. Under this scheme, run by the Urban Administration and Development Department, so far 60 thousand 872 camps have been set up for treatment in slums of 169 urban bodies of the state.
It is noteworthy that the first phase of the Chief Minister Urban Slum Health Scheme was started on 01 November 2020 to provide health facilities to the people living in slums of 14 municipal corporation areas of the state. Under this, 60 mobile medical units started going to the slums for health check-up and treatment and distribution of medicines. On March 31, 2022, it was expanded to all urban body areas across the state and 60 more new mobile medical units were started. The number of new mobile medical units will increase to 150 in the coming days. Due to which the poor and needy people of the urban areas will get health facilities near their homes.
